DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Cheers,

Heres a question to pick someones brain if they dont mind:

Ive seen that there is a mod that unlocks all cars to be able to race on all the tracks. Assuming this is the case and works, can I do the following -

Setup a custom rallycross championship (or race if not) using 4 cars from different classes ie. 1 Group B, 1 WRC car, 1 Rallycross car, 1 classic like the Sierra? Or does the mod mean that if I did that, it would have to be 4 x Group B cars for example?

Setup a custom rally event or championship and have every car in the game involved? Or is there a limit to the numbers?

Basically im an offline only player and to keep my interest I like to do events etc that I run myself, id keep track of things using pen and paper (old school). But what I like to see is the AI compete like they are in a competition and not just go through the motions (like in a game of FIFA or PES, the AI is better in competitions than exhibitions).

Finally, might sound crazy, but could I just watch the events above and not take part? So watch a rallycross championship or a full rally? And the AI not be robotic and make mistakes and crash etc?

My fear is this game is geared to online aspects and leaderboards.

mods are available but if you go online you can be banned with them.

this is to stop cheaters exploiting.

it is mainly a online product rallying against friends times, setting your own pb times. which are logged so yes i would say it is mainly a online game and is best online but.. doesnt mean you cant play it as you do.

have fun.its a great game.

cheers, im really reliant on the AI offering a competition and challenge. I know its not head to head in this sport, but its my big concern that im just racing against myself constantly and not having the challenge of the AI making things interesting.

you doing it in masters ? as unless you played for a long while that is a challenge. many people cant win in masters.you can change the ai times you race against.open for eg is really easy which i think its default.masters is mess up once you lost.

Ive not got the game yet, but I just wanted to get an idea of how a custom championship would work. For example id be a car in a rally say a Group B car... then id like all hte other Group B cars to be in my event or Championship and race, so we'd have the standings and results after each stage and i could record that and follow it.

Stuff like that.

you race on your own.in championships you have to start at the bottom work your way up. the ai will be pretty easy but this isnt dirt 3 so you have to learn.then if you qualify you move up and teh ai gets faster.so on and so on until you get to masters.

masters is very hard its not easy even if you good at racing games.if you fail or dont you can drop down if too low after the events . depends where you finish.

also with the differculty the amount of tracks increases per event at different levels. so easy start you only have to do 4 courses per country to win or qualify.then its 6 per country and then 8 then 12 . so as you can imagine masters is hard to win.12 courses per country at hardest setting.that should take you months even if you good.:p

so theres plenty of challenge.you wont be finished in a few days :D

at £15 its bargin . at £30-£40 quid it is.

Cheers,

Although im not probably interested in the career mode offered by the game, more how I can setup my own custom events.

However as a Killer B' fan, I dont think ive any other choice than to get this.

Is the Renault 5 Turbo the Group B configuration btw? I cant find any clarification if it is or not.

I know I can drive the Audi, Lancia S4, Metro, Opel and 205 from the era. Would be nice if the Renault also came into the mix.

renault 5 is with the bmw m3 and the cossie.its quite a bit quicker. thing is there was many variations of the renault 5.

Cheers DG,

Bought this afternoon, been adding mods, got all the skins for teh Group B cars (ive included the Renault in there as I believe it fits in, based on 280BHP, its the 1984 variant from research, which although not the last iteration, it still rallied in the same events).

The number of tracks is a shame, id love an African rally, so 6 nations makes my custom championship a bit small.

basically dirt rally was done because of a idea it wasnt sure if it would do well and had a small budget.cause its got should good reviews and won awards the next game got a really big budget and is launched in june.

i personally just do wales literally all the time.to me its almost perfect.sweden is brutal but fun.

This is a lot tougher than I expected :D

So much to learn, not just the tracks, but how to approach them. As someone who hasnt played a rally game in years and has played more track racing games, I need to get out of the last ditch breaking at the corner habit!

The Group B cars are a bit juicy as well, good fun though and its nice to push the laptop a bit.

I still plan to do this, I have the Logitech Attack 3 I found on Ebay, and some wood I got from Homebase. It's just.. when.

Anodised aluminium in red always looks great for me but i hate it how he's just put it on plywood thats not even cut square!

In my single player I've been chasing DG's times and in my pursuit, i ended up experiencing something magical.
