I've just started playing this again after a 6 month break but I seem to be getting a black screen crash back to the desktop when playing.Has anyone else had this and is there a fix for it.

I had a quick blast on it yesterday and worked fine for me so that is strange, I'm going to have another quick go in a mo so will report back if it happens to me

Was playing it over the weekend with my dad and no such issues.

yep all running fine for me, forgot how great this game is, I'm not very good with a wheel on this though so I play with a pad

Only thing I've changed is the gpu driver, I'm on 16.11.4 i did have the problem previously where I had too run the benchmark first to stop from crashing and get the error 41 but that doesn't seem to happen.
Twice I have been doing pikes peak (I managed to finish 1 run) but got the black screen then it reset back to desktop with any error or driver error notification, it's got me beat.

Dg by the way do you have any in game wheel settings I could use?

Well I keep getting this crash had a look in the dirt folder and get the same crash dump file

Cant get back into this game now other than a few runs now and again, desperately needs new tracks.
Whats the bets they announce a second one soon seen as there is no dlc. Hope they do.

I'm starting to get back into the game, I bought this when it first popped up on early access, then stopped playing a few weeks before they started adding new modes, think the first one was the pikes peaks stuff which is where I stopped.
After watching DG's vids and VabjTV I did start of at giving corners a go at 100mph, but where DG nails his corners, I bounce off the track into the nearest tree or ironically the nearest Ambulance.
So now I've taken to slooooow in and progressive out, so far working out for me completing each stage and actually getting progressively faster.

It's a decent game, but it's not as enjoyable as previous versions.
They've gone from arcade to simulation which I'm sure some people like but the difficulty is a bit much for me, very frustrating to play.
Doesn't help that visually it's pretty awful either.

yes i think we may hear something at some point about something.generally they tease for a period of time. on the official forums we have fun trying to decypher what it is.
dirt rally was done on a shoe string budget and cause its done so well they will have a big budget for next one.im just hoping none of the arcadeyness of dirt 3 and the likes creep into it. cant see it myself with such glowing reviews with the more sim like approach would be stupid to go back.
Uncle_Gravy haha i have a break now and then if i do it takes me a few days to get back up to usual pace.
think the key is to find a car that suits you. then learn the courses.i do fancy playing the game a lot but the cars i like the most are a handful. so with a wheel and pushing each time you play is like going to the gym.
ebilcake, key to this game is patience.you wont do much at all time wise until you probably played 50-100 hrs. when i first got it i was like okay this is hard.
stuck at it though. i think wales is being perfect.last video of me broke world record with this one. having fun with my fav car the pug 205 t16 on monaco.started out as a fun session just drifting sliding it.then seen i was in top ten. so pushed for top spot.still a few mistakes in but overall decent run.
subaru run here which i was trying to get top 3 positions.all top ten was in the c4 citreon which is a quicker overall car.

Really? I find the graphics very good on this game, it looks wicked imo, it is harder than previous games but I love it
Agreed, graphics are awesome in this game, just so realistic, think the other guy needs a new gpu or monitor, or change his settings from low to ultimate

I've reinstalled it and updated to the new and drivers and still got the same problem, I managed to do a full run on pikes peak and then did another run and half way up another black screen then it reset to desktop, it's got me beat I am running crossfire is anyone had problems it and this game.

The graphics were better in Dirt 3 and that's from 2011, it's even more apparent how bad the visuals are when using the Rift and looking around, it looks dated.
