DiRT Rally Hits Steam Early Access

Yeah dirt 3 is totally different and much easier! Use the clutch for handbrake then? Wouldn't be much different? Or set the clutch to brake and then the brake to handbrake. Still left foot braking and you won't be powering and using the handbrake so no conflict there

Can't do that unfortunately or swap them over. The clutch on the CSP V2's works similar to the way a real clutch does, so it has like a notch action somewhere in the middle to replicate the biting point on a proper clutch where the pedals becomes more free.

Think I might have to just try stick with it on manual and try and get used to the handbrake on a wheel button, somehow.

you could set a button to handbrake on wheel, flappy paddle on right to handbrake. buy a cheap joystick for handbrake.

get a seperate handbrake.

to get the best times you have to use handbrake. its literally every hairpin .

I tried setting a old sidewinder joystick for hand brake and had problems getting it to work, think its more work than setting the controls too it and off you go. I have for now put up with space bar next to my wheel, you get use to it. Setting a button on the wheel as HB seems very werid to me tbh, couldnt get hang of it. I did the clutch as hand brake also for a period but decided against it as seems a bad habit to get use too. Also when I am in a good mood I want clutch on with h shifter, Only to walk away in a peed off agitated mood because of this game :D

I strive to be good at this game, I wanted to be a rally driver as a kid, so this is the closest thing Ill settle for :)

Was going to edit the footage from the #2 run at Waldaufspring with the Fiesta, guess what, no sound. :-P

Rekt.

Handbrakes, yeah well until I manage to get my hands on the Fanatec one I'll keep using my TH8RS as a handbrake, working awesome.

But... when I get a dedicated handbrake I'll be trying clutch+h-shift mode at the TH8RS and start over from scratch again. That will be a learning curve to curse over I bet.

just done a amazing run on sweet lamb 5:29.253  with pug what makes it worse i messed up twice :p

i think maybe 1-2 secs to come off that which will be 1/2nd.

Well spent a hour or so on Ruschberg track getting used to using a handbrake on hairpins and korfi dafni as well.

Its got to be done to improve times using R2[7] for handbrake on the DFGT its a lot easier to use than O[3].

so a not so good session with the delta today, she just doesnt want to get the back out in hairpins, at least not without compromising so much stability she can't drive in a straight line any more.

been thinking my suspension is too hard, but my attempts at softening up have just ruined all my profiles.

ohh well, guess it's love/hate with this game lol.

Decided to try my joystick as a make shift handbrake. Going take some getting used to that's for certain but at least it's working in-game!

Nice setup you have there Kalexuz.

Moved house 3 years ago, and all I can find is my wheel. God knows where the foot pedals are. :(

Cheers :) it's not a bad setup for playing on, can't really get a proper racing chair as it's in our dining room and the wife already thinks it's a bit nerdy haha.

@Carrot, I find it quite difficult to use in the heat of the moment. I think because the joystick is quite far forward from my left hand it wasn't as effective as I thought it would be. I need to first get better at the base game and learn the tracks and then perhaps I can add complex setups into the mix. Reverted to button on wheel for now.

been doing sweet lamb in pug for wr. literally every run now 2nd in world. :( little bit keep just not as good as needs to be. break time.

What he said. :P :) :(

Just looked for you on the Guinness World record site, There not agreeing with your world records.

Anyone semi literate let me know how this compares to Richard Burns and how it plays as a sim. I see lots of people claiming its realistic, then I read people are using 200 degrees for steering. Some say the FF is great some say terrible.

Any chance of an unbiased review.

look at reviews not one bad one.

no trolling in here for you as the game is the best rally game on pc ever period.funny thing is people cant call it crap even if you troll cause everyone playing it knows how good it is.

you can use whatever degrees you want all work fine and feedback is fine. you may struggle though.

if you genuinely like rbr you will like this. this is better without the hassle of modding.

just done sweet lamb in pug 205 t16 in 5:26.536

could be 1st in world or second.also upped my best on pant mawr with pug to 2:31.543 also first or 2nd.

Try these car settings for Dirt a good starting point better than the stock set up-

Tramac-
Example=1fR means 1 click from the right / 2fL means 2 click from the left.

Brake Bias > 1fR gives even better stability under braking that is important on ice.
Suspension / Damping > 3fR makes them pretty firm which is fine on tarmac as it's all about maximizing grip. Also there are way less bumps to contend on stages like that.
Ride Height > 2fL (both front and rear) will lower the center of mass which will greatly increase stability.

Greece-

Brake Bias > 2fR
Suspension / Damping > 5fL (in the middle)
Ride Height > 1fR (both front and rear)
