bit sceptical of some of early benchmarks myself .

i think the 5870 will be a bit under a 295 or level

and the 5850 about ten percent quicker than a 4890 or there abouts.

i got a funny feeling we gunna get stung on prices though

i hope the 5870 will be about 10% quicker than the 295. it will need to be to make it worth it xD

Either way, if its close to, and in some cases hammering the 295, then thats impressive for a single card.

Anyone want to make a guess at what the 2nd connector is for on the bottom right corner? One for the fan and.. LED's?

I want a 5870.

If priced too high by December,t hen a 5850.

Looking at those results the 295GTX is ahead or even owning until its VRAM limited... so nVidia just need some affordable 1024Mb "GX2" cards to compete...

Rroff trouble is by the time they get the 295 with 2gig the x2 could be out but you are right it does look like it vram limited

GT200(b) has also taken large hit going from 4xAA to 8xAA regardless of any VRAM limitation. it would have been better to compare with 16xCSAA

Put it this way... on nVidia I find x4 is fine - I never percieve jaggies ingame unless I actually go looking for them... when playing on ATI cards I have to increase it to x8 for the same effect - probably due to selective optimizations not working quite as well as they could.

The difference is the 5870 is a single card, cheaper and supports DX11.
