5850 looks like a very nice card if it comes in around £220-250 i would like it lower but i don't think it will be that low more likely 250 but that might depend how much the 285 drops to.
 
probably better to compare the 5870x2 with the 295, and 5870 with the 285.
although even then its not exactly a fair comparison until we see the new cards from nvidia.
 
Would be more interesting to see 285 tri-SLI scores (rather than the quad SLI 295) up against the 5870 cf as that would be similiar price with the current drop in 285 prices.

If those benchies are true then the 5870 is a nice card giving damn good performance now we will have to wait and see the prices to decide totally if it's a brilliant card.
 
Ah, no surpises there then, basically just RV770 with more SIMD units and DirectX 11 extensions and optimisations. Just as expected really. It's interesting to see that as opposed to with RV770, the SIMD units now totally dwarf the rest of the core - I think we can take that as a sign as this architecture finally reaching the end of any real expandability.

Not an independant reviewers results or anything like that.


I might just be reading peoples posts wrong but are some people complaining?!?
 
strange whats the problem with u peops. it has the same sometimes better performance then 295gtx in high resolutions and its single gpu it uses less power probably twice less then 295gtx less heat , has new dx support what do u need more tbh . also it uses new drivers give it few moths it will be 5~10% faster with mature drivers

and its 5870 not 5870x2
