I dont care about the prices at launch as i wont be getting one, do want to see how the prices change as time goes by and when nVidia release a new generation.

Have to agree, and nothing like Nvidia pricing at all, still way cheaper, everyone must be forgetting their £535 8800 GTX's and what not, ahh hang on i see whats going on, its only Nvidia who can do stuff like this, man this forum never changes, so yeah, it is only as its ATi, you'll see when Nvida's GT300's hit at £500+ a pop, everyone will be cumming buckets as usual, and not saying a word about the prices, they'll all just be snapping them up. :)

How much was the 285 at release? I can't remember :o

For the 4870 yes but I don't recall their other cards being cheap, when they were the best you paid for it as I recall with my 9700pro and x1900xt

I paid £180 for my 9700 and flashed the BIOS and made it a pro. Still in my friends old rig and working fine and dandy ;)

Pmsl, have a look at the old 295 prices, and your whinging over what these could cost (around the same, cheaper), and they new Dx11, single cards, and on par with them, bloody epic, you couldn't make it up, im in tears here :D :D :D

thats great but that wasnt a launch card was it? my 8800gtx wasnt a launch card either, but it was still £330. but anyway, i did the same with a 9500np ;)

the r9700 pro was ~£290 at launch.
the x800xt was ~£340 at launch.
the 2900 xt was ~£295 at launch.
the 3870 was ~£150 at launch.
the 4870 was ~£185 at launch.

you can look at single core nvidia cards and yes, quite obviously they were pretty much all vastly more expensive at launch in the past few years. going by those numbers you can assume a top end ATi card will still be cheaper. Though <£300 is unlikely.

blah blah blah, its not 'this forum' at all. most people are actually going by past experiance, as hopeful as they may be.

I'm going to guess at 299.99 for the 5870

anything over 300 will make people gulp - 299.99 sounds about right ?

I thought ATI had said supply would NOT be an issue at all ? plenty to go around.... ?

interesting that that graph compares against 4870 and not a 4890 ? that and no show of the res (could be at 2500x res) or AA - could be at 8xAA ?
