OK guys im gonna try and answer another question here to take everyones mind off tomorrow!!

I currently use a 3 monitor setup using SoftTh and I am looking to upgrade, so will the 1gb version still run 3 monitors ok (5040 x 1050) and if so will I NEED a monitor with a displayport?

Thanks in advance guys and gals :)

i think you need the Eyefinity Edition card but don't quote me on that

You will be fine with the normal config version, 2 dvi, 1 dp, 1 hdmi. So you can either get an adapter for the dp port or hdmi port. Hdmi/dvi adapters are very common now and will probably come bundled with one at least.

I don't really hold with that !, it's called business, No one ever thinks about what these company's lose when the stock goes EOL It cannot all be returned to the distributors , If You cut deals and make extra efforts to procure early stock You have to "make hey while the Sun shines"

The consumer is not in anyway forced to pay a premium ;)

What on earth has EOL got to do with it? The 5870 isn't going to go EOL any time soon.

The 5870 will be in good supply by the end of October I reckon at the latest, you honestly reckon they'll drop the price to £250 just because supply is good? Of course they won't, as long as people keep buying them at £300/£320/whatever they'll keep selling at that.

Yes, and then ATI released the 4890's, then Nvidia the 285's, then ATi the 5870's etc - where do you stop?

You can only make comparisons at one moment in time - and the fact is when ATi released the 4850/4870's they were faster and cheaper than the nearest Nvidia equivalent (excluding the 9800GX2 but that's where the 4870x2 comes in).
I was speaking to whoever said that the "4850 and 4870 were slower and less feature packed than their NVidia counterparts." They patently weren't.

Old GFX cards that were a few months previous "new/Current" go end of line or worthless

Hey, listen, I'm not supporting or defending anyone here, just explaining the way retailing is
