If you dont need it dont take the money, paying it back is a nightmare. I am an it professional and still have to pay it all back yet and really screws you over when trying to get a mortgage etc.
But anyway this is not a thread about uni. I am just interested to see what the benches are like. At the moment i just dont need a faster card.

the cards have a pci-e 2.0 capable interface, but 2.0 (and 3.0 as well?) is designed to be backwards compatible with all previous versions on the card and motherboard, so you wont have a problem with that motherboard :)

Not to take this too far off topic, but isn't it just like an extra income tax? It's taken at source by the employer and you don't have to worry about it.

Additionally, the interest rate is just the rate of inflation, so the real value of what you owe stays the same.

I know this sounds like a crazy question and most likely stupid...

Do you think that in some way ATi will be able to make the 58xx line crossfire compatible with any of the 48xx line?

I know certain cards carry 10.1 DirectX enabling some features akin to DirectX 11, I wonder whether they plan to allow each card to render specific aspects of a frame in terms of the 58xx card handling any dx 11 features etc etc..

What are your thoughts? Apologies for any silly notions here too

dont know if that would be beneficial since tis a slower card.

True, though I know ATi allow for different cards to be crossfired together i.e a 4890 and a 4870; I am in the belief that it hands out the work proportionally based on each cards speed such as a 60/40 ratio on the 4890/4870 respectively [I may be wrong though]

I figure even having a slightly older card like a 4890 would still throw a couple of extra fps into the mix for games, just a though though.

Yep. Best thing I ever did, was take out all the student loans and spend them on IT gear. Paying it back is easy, and it'll be the cheapest loan you ever get.
