nVidia has too great a grasp of Marketing and OEM relationships. Even when they don't have the product to compete they'll still outsell ATi Two to One.
People like us who actually keep up to date with articles and benchmarks, and know the score as to what cards are the best value make up a very small amount of the market.
If ATi want to overtake nVidia they need to step up their name with marketing, along with having the better product for three or four generations straight.
Perhaps in the past but not so much these days, take for instance the laptop OEM market, a market that is booming and ATi have just taken a gigantic leap in this market thanks to bumpgate which cost NVIDIA just in write offs a third of a billion

Wasn't it 200 million initially and then another 111 million recently added to cover costs of their dodgy chips?
Maybe more to come as well, who knows?
Also don't underestimate what the 4xxx series GPUs have done for ATi, hell you can see it just from watching this forum over the last year (the change that is) and unless NV sort out their monster 550mm G300 on 40nm

they may find themselves in for a world of hurt again for another 6-12 months.
What I don't understand is why no derivative parts like ATi have done, NVs 40nm process just hasn't worked out for them and that is where the money is in the lower end and some of their renaming offerings are maybe tainted with the bumpgate sticky mud,
According to Charlie NV are out at Apple soon, out at Dell big time and other OEMs are p***ed at them too, they need some good news real soon I think, IMHO...
