thats great but that wasnt a launch card was it? my 8800gtx wasnt a launch card either, but it was still £330. but anyway, i did the same with a 9500np ;)

the r9700 pro was ~£290 at launch.
the x800xt was ~£340 at launch.
the 2900 xt was ~£295 at launch.
the 3870 was ~£150 at launch.
the 4870 was ~£185 at launch.

Yeah, from what I recall was at least a month after. I remember a pro being £80-90 extra. Was my first time flashing bios, what a thrill, I remember being scared I may screw it up and my money will be down the toilet.

Great to get the performance instead, then.

We'll have none of that these days, it seems, though.

Long card.

update. not sure if posted already but

Cards are launched on Wednesday this week *confirmed*

OCUK have the largest stock of Sapphire 5870's and a single card is reaching on stock over 25k in 3dmark06. What system it's benched with i don't know sorry.

also the approx end user price should be roughly £280 inclusive

and

Apparently it is outperforming gtx295 quite happily, with the added bonus that it is a DX11 part....

Hemlock does sound pretty badass though.

Like a medieval beast of a man that slew any dragon that looked at him funny.

Hemlock was his *****.

-25% to 100% of a 295 is not outperforming it from the benchmarks we have seen so far.

I'm going to guess at 299.99 for the 5870

anything over 300 will make people gulp - 299.99 sounds about right ?

I think you are right, an XFX XXX edition 2 GB card, may push past the £300 mark (launch day atleast) but thats at a stretch. If it was much more, then we are approaching, £600+ for a 5870X2? Nnnnah I dont think so (hope not!).

I think the 5850 will be £179-199 personally, as Nvidia will adjust the price point of the 285. And 249-279 for a 5870 1GB, 2GB and OC cards, over and above.

Atleast on launch day. Am still debating it here, am working this weekend, but off monday tuesday, and I have both days to fill ;)

That won't go in my case. Gah.

Edit: I've not seen any other sources saying 11.8inches, only 10.5... That custom cooler is longer than reference.

I've heard 10.5" for Cypress (the 5870), but Hemlock is the X2 variant, which unless I'm mistaken hasn't had any info for released apart from that one slide.
