Dishonored 2

To be honest if you guys apply the settings I used, the game works fine. If I can get the game to work for me on 4K and enjoy it, for the many who are still on 1080p it should be easy.

Even though I played with a controller for my first playthrough, I played 3-4 levels with a mouse on my 2nd playthrough and it works fine. End of the day the price is not going to be dropping in the next few weeks or even likely months, so if you want to play it you might as well buy now and try it, rather than panting waiting on a patch to come out :)

What settings are these out of interest? I've even tried everything on Very Low and the FPS fluctuates wildly even when standing completely still...

I've already got max pre-rendered frames set to 1, vsync off, dynamic res set to 100 etc. One thing I read today that I haven't tried is getting the process in task manager to stay on High as opposed to Low.

I'm quenching my thirst for fun FPS mechanics with Bioshock Infinite at the moment, about 2/3rds through, loving it.

Probably complete it before the patch comes out!

Mate - Ive tried every setting and combination of tweaks out there, and it just doesnt work properly. To be clear, and do pay attention, just because it works OK for you doesnt mean it does for everyone.

I have to agree, there's something seriously up with the game. For a start Very Low looks almost identical to the higher settings bar textures as far as I can tell. Where's the scalability?! Using a controller or M&K and turning feels like it's got a huge amount of input lag attached. It's just a mess of a release really. If they release the patch and it doesn't fix things, I'll probably Steam refund as long as I'm in in time.

Pay attention to what exactly? I am giving my experience with the game here. Not forcing anyone to do anything they do not want. It is just information you either use or not.

Where have I suggested it works for everyone? There are not many people complaining for nothing, I had a rocky start to it myself. However there are many who are playing it without problems too, shall we ignore those people's experience because it does not work for you??

So how about you pay attention yourself to what is being said ;)

You said -'to be honest if you use the settings i use the game works fine'. No, no it doesnt, so dont arrogantly assume that it does.

Definitely finish it. The ending is brilliant!

Completed it when it came out on the consoles. Bought on the PC, tried playing through it a couple of times. But this time, it's gripped me again! Loving it. Absolutely loving it. I have totally forgotten how the story goes as well so it's almost like a new experience!

Just doing the weapons mission at the moment. China town, yeaaaaaaaaaaaa

I've just started mission 8 now which I think is the last one, 15 hours, by no means explored everything, in fact I know I have left quite a few runes and bonecharms. There is not a single area in this game that is not a masterpiece of level design imo. The only slight areas I would criticise would be that I don't think it quite captured the atmosphere the first game was capable in some levels, and The Dreadful Whale is not ad interesting a hub as The Hound Pits.

Setting it to high reverts straight back to low the instant you resume the game, also alt tabbing degenerates the game further according to steam forums

Changing the setting using Process Lasso the setting remains on high so you don't need to alt tab, it definitely improved things for me but not a huge amount

Thank you, yeah I read that shortly after the above. I'll give it a go but I can't see it being a night/day difference to what I've been experiencing unfortunately. I just hope the performance patch is comprehensive.

That could have indeed been worded better I agree. But that is my experience with the game. Had issues at the start, but after messing about with the settings I got it to work fine. Not like me others who have got it to work are lying now are we?

The point I was trying to make with that post is valid though, you have very little to lose if you really want to try the game now.

The developers defiantly need to get a patch out, but in the meantime if you are someone out there who really wants to play the game ASAP, there is a chance you can get it to work with playing about with the settings if you wish to do so.

The price of the game is unlikely to drop any time soon. Also you can buy it now on steam and try it, if you cannot get it to work then get a refund. But at least there is hope that you can get it to work now if you try ;)

Yeah there doesn't seem much between the settings. I was playing it on medium as the game suggested and just tried it on ultra just to see how it looked for those fortunate enough. Really didn't think it looked much better, and also the performance drop wasn't that big.

If I'd purchased on steam I would have grabbed a refund already

Whatever the problems are, they seem to be very very system dependent. I'm not super sensitive to frame rate dips, 30 fps is usually good enough for me and i'm playing with a pad; but it's been fine on a 970 + i5 at 1440p on high settings for me.

So I had a little play about with the settings last night and found a reasonable compromise til the performance patch. I've limited my fps to 31 in afterburner, adaptive half refresh vsync in nvidia CP, max prerendered 1, prefer maximum performance, process lassoo to High, in game settings to Auto (mix of low/medium) and I'm now getting 30fps locked. Not ideal but it's got me past the prologue without wanting to turn it off in disgust.

Also some news online that some of the gaming press have been given access to the performance patch coming out, early reports are good.
