Dissapointed....

Removed one stick of ram, didnt help.
Ran memtest before, no problems

ehh, ill have to look for the clock thingy

Btw, in furmark its a bit different than in games. I sometimes see a single black line that appears from top or from bottom, going opposite way, then slowing down and and going back to where it came. then the faint flickering starts.

I know this sounds like GPU issue but I really doubt it. in games I dont get that black line o maybe im not seeing it.

Well the only thing now, as I suggested earlier, is to try it on a different display using DVI or HDMI.

If everythings OK then it's your monitor, cable or adapter.

If there's still a problem it's RMA time for your 460 unless you can test it in a different PC.

Btw, was reading 60Hz is pretty low for a LCD 1680x1050

Would 75hz fix this if it was a monitor problem ?

60Hz is the standard frequency for that monitor at 1680x1050.

I don't think it goes any higher than that.

All the LCD's I've had operated at 60Hz.

Try it out on a different display and see what happens.

Good luck :)

Uhm DVI only supports 60hz I was once told though I don't know if its correct....

I doubt its the monitor that's at fault here due to it working on on-board, maybe something to do with his PCI-E slot or something?

Edit: have you tried using a VGA cable by any chance?

I have the exact same monitor mate. As does my friend, and his dad has 2.

Mine was terrible, lines across the screen, this website, the white writing gets faded across the screen, Turned out to be a dodgy VGA cable, both me and my friend bought new ones, belkin DVI to VGA high quality one and got no problems now :)

Sounds like a bitch of a problem m8, you really need to get hold of a friends PC for an afternoon and screw around with GPUs and monitors ect to root out the problem.

Hey thanks guys, maybe it is the cable or adapter after all that causes this tearing.
Im going to a friends house to see if its the GPU because im really not into RMAing it again, and we'll see from there.

hope its ok.

Do you have another computer to test the card?

No idea what could be wrong, maybe bad batch. Is your second card received from the RMA a different brand?

Did you manage to get the BIOS updated?

Its well worth reading up on how to do it, and doing it. I've seen a BIOS update fix some truly bizarre problems before.

Hey guys, update:

...Not really. couldnt test it yesterday, but definitely doing it today.

this is my schedule:

Test GPU with his AMD chipset (AMD Board, just like mine) If he doesnt get the lines, check my adapter and compare with his. Then ANOTHER VGA cable.

After ive done this ill report today at about 5pm.

wish me luck :/

You quite simply CANNOT rule out a 2nd faulty card, it is likely that they both came from the same batch and if the factory produced a dodgy batch you will have recieved two of them now, to me this seems MOST likely simply because you have already RMA'ed one card and OCUK confirmed faulty.

How to test your monitor, run the same test with onboard GFX if there are no lines then monitor & cable are fine.

from the info given so far this sounds most likely to be either GFX or MOBO.
BUT i have been known to be wrong before ;)
