Dissapointed....

thats ok then.

if it was an old monitor, then my next question would have been speakers near it. causing the image to go wrong because of the speaker magnets etc etc

I don't see how the problem could be the card or monitor here. The card renders the image fine as shown by the screen shot, if it wasn't outputting that image correctly the desktop would be messed up as well, but it isn't. If the monitor was the problem the desktop would also display the same glitch because there's no difference between a frame from a game and the frame from a desktop, it's receiving 60 images per second either way.

So my question is:

IF the onboard has no lines at all, etc, does that mean the card is faulty ?

No, could be the motherboard not dealing with the card properly or power issues.

Not a power issue, im 100% sure of it.

When I had the same problem with the first card, it was diagonsed as faulty. so ive sent this one see if its the same.

Did you ever end up flashing your bios?

thanks for the troll comment you troll.

Not being funny the guy was just making a comment (whether you agree with it or not & however wrong you or I might think it is..)....this is just inciting an argument which usually ends up in every thread being filled with crap.

Nope I was too 'scared' ill mess something up. I just RMA'd this and ill wait for the new card, ive got nothing to lose anyway. like a day wait anyway.

Well b4 considering flashing the bios (should the rma not work out)..you could try & rule out the bios by posting a new thread in the mobo section querying if anyone else has the same board & a 460 & if they had probs.....determining what revision bios you have in comparison of course..failing that...contact (Asus?) to see if there are any known issues.

Your mobo has onboard graphics....did you..or do you not have to disable onboard graphics if using a graphics card? wondering if this might make a difference? Never owned a board with onboard graphics so just guesswork...anyone else fill him in here if this may/may not be a prob?

Onboard disables itself after a gfx is detected.

how does that work with the drivers then?

make sure u got everything up-to-date on ur gfx card and mb (drivers and bios), don't worry about the warranty thing, its their fault fo releasing bad drivers / bios to begin with, just RMA it if something bad happens (ive never seen anything bad happen, even when i had a powercut in the middle of a bios update).

maybe also update your directx

a little off topic but why would you pay for return postage?

they've sent you faulty stuff so need to pay the postage. don't let them get away with it. it's your right. make them pay.

if they get stroppy tell them you'll be charging them your time and expenses unless they cough up.

i never pay for return postage if something breaks or is broken.

3rd time lucky mate fingers crossed.

Thanks mate, I really hope this turns out well.

To the othe poster: Ill be upgrading to 64bit sometime next week or week after that.

Jobe: Thanks for the input. You are quite right actually. im already frustrated and im not in the mood for spending more money so ill fix that.

How long are your RMA's taking by the way?

I sent a faulty GTX470 back on the 13th Oct and am still waiting now

Ive chased OC twice and been told it can take up to 28 days

You should have asked OcUK to test the graphics card before they send out another one to you, and find out what system they tested it on. If you bought a new system what graphics card was in it when you first got it?.
