Are all the alternative pretty much the same then?
All types of alternatives are different in taste and texture, and i would argue even the same 'milk' type (oat for example) from two differing manufacturers can taste differently. Your best bet is to just try a few and see what you prefer.

Although i do think Minor Figures is one of the better oat 'milks' and the Barista variant (higher fat content than most) in tea does get you somewhat (ish) closer in terms of tea made with cows milk - gives you a weak, but not dredged canal, coloured tea that is fractionally sweet in taste due to the high sugar content of the Barista version.
Still rather drink it black though

Well I eat meat, but would you eat it if you had to kill it yourself?

Once in Lithuania I helped a man cut up a pig. Well I burnt the hair off with a blow torch and watched the rest.

We went to a farm and chose the pig then went swimming in a lake. When we returned home the pig was waiting for us on a massive dolly. We got in contact with one of the neighbours who "knew" what he was doing and took it round back to cut it up. We gave him 2 litres of booze for his trouble. Two days later I had to give him a lift to work because he got drunk off the bottle and binned his car in a ditch whilst going to the local hooker.

It was all a rather surreal experience in the end.

The meat was absolutely lovely although we had to smoke a large portion of it because it wouldn't fit in the mother in law's fridge......

The one thing I do remember quite vividly was when said man was trying to break the neck to remove the head he did a twisting motion and at the same time poo came out of its anus.

can vegans drink goats milk? (goats don't need to give birth to keep producing so in theory of you had a pet goat there would be no harm in drinking their milk.... not a fan myself mind you.

They're a mammal, they still need to give birth to start producing milk, and besides just like a cows milk why should we have the right to take it when its not ours.

i would have to educate you first so it could be a long time before you grasped the answer

Oh, ok... I'm guessing the several years working on dairy, beef, sheep and arable farms isn't a "long enough time to educate me" to the realities of farming?:cry:

as I understand it goats produce milk all year round with or without breeding.

edit... actually I stand corrected. I always thought goats produced milk without breeding but a Google shows I was wrong. my apologies

(it is just that they make so much milk that there is too much just for the young so can have young and still have milk left over so it doesn't need to be killed).

Having just finished reading a few books on ultra processed foods I'm glad I do eat basic meats, eggs and vegetables... I mean vegan foods are hugely processed... No thanks! The data on UPF is frightening. People are basically killing themselves by eating **** food.

yes processed vegan food is as bad possibly worse in some cases than non vegan but i think most of us on here eat fresh, my ninja is indispensable , obviously i have the odd cba night now and again where a vegan pizza is on the menu.

Vegetables are not ultra processed. People choose to buy imitation processed crap just like they choose to by processed rubbish with meat in it.
vegan or not this is a society problem

I try to cook fresh when I can and keep away from ready made foods where possible but I work often from 8am to 7pm. if I am in the office I have to drive too and from work as well so that is another 1hr 20 out of my day
then I actually want to see my kid before he goes to bed, and then at that point the last thing I want to do is start a full on cook. (we always have a bunch of home cooked curries and chillies in the freezer which helps)
usually we don't eat till around 8pm after the lad goes to bed (which in itself is not great health wise) and then after that sue me I want some down time.
weekends are a bit different but I don't think it's right to chastise people for not being able to do full on cooks . My wife is similar. for us at least the idea of 1 bread winner and 1 stay at home parent/house keeper is not an option so (unlike when I was a kid with my mum at home) it's not so easy to have wholesome home cooked food all the time

Yes but people need protein and fats and vegetables alone don't give that to you. Ok lentils and nuts and beans have a good selection of amino acids but you have to eat them in significant quantities to get the same amount.

I'm not suggesting you HAVE to eat meat but things like eggs for example are such a calorie dense and nutritionally complete food that you have to do a lot more work to get the same.

The studies revealed it is partially again a wealth divide. Basically poor people have more processed foods in their diet than not.

Also it highlighted that veganism in the Western world is a diet for the privileged rather than for the majority.

Over 50% of people get their calories from processed food (on average).
