I think discussion should be more around what should happen with the animals we already have if the market becomes so unprofitable as to require farmers to mass cull because they can't afford to keep their animals anymore. To say that it's a positive that the animals get to live and be cared for just so we can eat them seems a bit silly. It's a bit like saying we shouldn't have ended slavery because the slaves were being "cared for", what do we do with them after they're all set free? They might live in poverty or die of starvation! So keep them as slaves! (And yeah, humans and animals are different I know).

in my line of work i can give a vegan 5 diffrent alternatives to a meal and they turn them all down ???? what more do they want ?? after asking it's quorn sausages and chips ???? yeah right .. your doing it right ???

The logic would be they only die once.

Then no more would be breed as livestick.

Then no more would be killed.

At this stage I dont know what you are even talking about. You cant pick a crazy person on a crazy diet and say look thats vegans.

All I'm saying is that if the vegans want it done overnight the animals will be culled immediately otherwise they will end up suffering because there would be too many to be looked after. You can't leave the animals to fend for themselves. You are right if the farming system has time to reduce the stock levels at a proper rate.

A big change in societal attitudes that's been enforced by hundreds of generations isn't going to change overnight, I never considered the animals I ate until I was around 30ish.

Knowledge plays a large role, most people don't know when they buy milk or cheese that male calfs get killed for example. I used to buy the organic milk because I thought I was doing the right thing by the cows.

Do you know what desensitization is? I'm an animal lover like most others, cute animal videos was the only thing on my Instagram feed until I got rid of it. I've had more pets than most over the years, and I am incapable of killing anything.

Problem is, I also enjoy meat amd have created a very effective mental barrier between animals bred for food, and animals bred for other purposes.

You've tried repeatedly to break this barrier down and all you've done is reinforce it. I care less about animal suffering since reading your posts than before. Not sure of that's your goal, but that's what it is.

I did answer it earlier:

“They’re going to be killed anyway, around 90 billion per year. Better to end it now than perpetuate it for thousands of years and kill trillions.“

It would be far less suffering and death to just stop.
