Divinity Original Sin

Damnit I just read all 9 pages of this thread and now need this game in my life. On hols in Sweden for another week though so it will have to wait.

Got mine from cjs CD keys too. It was a bit weird though I had to click a link to have it gifted to me. Never normally had to do that although not used the service for a bit.

Worth every penny this game. Very difficult though if you are used to modern games holding your hand all the time. Almost put it in easy keep getting owned. No rezz scrolls left now either!

Just bought a copy from liezryou from Neogaf, instant delivery $19 talked me through it and instant delivery defo recommend him :)

To be fair, whilst I really love the witcher(played through it again recently actually), there was a fair bit to criticise when it was released. It had pretty poor translation for a start. I think it was actually pretty shoddy before the enhanced edition imo.

Nope was just the translations that were dodgy. I remember it like it was yesterday. But anyway the PCG reviewer got a lot of stick over it hehe. He had a lot of difficulty with the game esp the fighting...he thought it was broken he called it "An RPG in poor action-game disguise" 67 rating

Just finished it, a little over 93 hours :)

The core story was really good and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I thought the "sidekick" stories were a little poor though and I was never really bothered by their outcome. The audio was good and I loved the ambient noises. The music is excellent but I feel there wasn't enough of it, and after a while you know the whole soundtrack in your head.

After around 40 hours or so though I never really felt like I could ever lose a battle my characters were just so powerful. A Witch doesn't really do any damage, but they are just so incredibly powerful at controlling fights. When it came to bosses I just chain blinded them and never got hit once, this sadly included the last few bosses in the game. Warrior's damage output is also incredibly high and you can easily take out packs of monsters effortlessly. Flurry for instance, it hit 4 times and did about 800-1200 damage per hit (non crit). I think when I do it again I'll play it on the hardest difficulty setting.

Money was pointless beyond level 10 or so and at the end of the game I was sporting over 400k gold and had about 150k of junk items that I couldn't be bothered to sell at random vendors. Reputation never really seemed to play any role in the game either, or if it did it was very minor and not noticeable. Loot was fine up to level 8 ish, but after that it became very difficult to upgrade items. By level 21 I had still had some very low level items because they were not easy to replace, too many useless stat items.

Overall I loved it and even with the issues I raised it's still one of the the best RPG I've played in the last decade.

#1 in the Steam best seller charts for over a week now!

Good to see this game getting the attention it deserves.

Whether the final review scores are just or not for Dragon Age 3, it does look good from what has been shown/described already.

I'm far more swayed by user scores, they tell the tale without bias the majority of the time.

Make sure you press F5 regularly. I spent just over an hour walking round the town yesterday before getting killed in a fight at the graveyard only to realise I'd not saved for ages. Got to start from the burning ship and go through all the dialogue again.

I am looking forward to this coming to linux

a version of the game for Linux some time after its full release on PC/Mac
Not really sure if it will run on my linux netbook but would be nice to have it on linux on my desktop system :)
Still holding off buying it at the moment but only really because I have other games to play.

Okay, so I just lost 20 hours.

Old fashioned RPG with turned-based combat are right up my alley. Great stuff.

started this last night also... what classes are everyone rolling?

i made a female witch and a male Knight..

any tips for a starter?

Do you have to keep the books once you've read them or can I just sell them?

Some are very important (albeit they are rare), but I couldn't name which ones without spoiling stuff. Trade skill books can be sold as they give you an entry in your trades log when you read it. Just dump the ones you want to keep in a backpack.

Well I caved and bought it. I was going to get it off a CDKey site but bottled it and got the game and DLC on Steam. Hopefully get a good few hours on it this week :)

If I had to be critical, the only thing I'd find wrong with it was the player characters and the party members. I've just completed Cyseal, and there's really no much going on in the way of character development, other than Jahan being a bit creepy about necromancy.

It's a far cry from the likes of Imoen or Minsc :)

Yeah this game does desperately need more companions and companion interaction.

I restarted after a whole day's play when I found out there weren't any other companions later in the game because I managed to make my two characters with almost exactly the same spec as the two companions. I could have just replaced them with henchmen I guess, but that'd mean no interactions and losing the skills I'd already invested.
