Divinity Original Sin

I used a henchman instead of the mad retired source hunter in the pub, cos she sounded like more trouble than she was worth :)

Have to admit, I was hoping there'd be a liberal supply of companions throughout the game, it feels like something they had to cut to get the game out the door.

i do believe they mentioned adding more companions in future patches, personally i started a 2nd playthrough once i realised the 2 companions would basically be clones of the 2 starting classes i had chosen.

This time went for a Ranger and Tank to start and used the companions as a ranged dps/healer and 2H melee dps. Seems to be working well

Heh that's precisely what I did.

Not sure if I'd be overly bothered about more companions with stories if they made them like they have for the two already in. The stories and characters were kinda boring and the interaction with them was very rare. I ended up ditching one of them for a henchman in the end.

There is no DPS in this game, maybe DPT?

Don't be 'that guy', it's very obvious he's using the term as a noun to describe a damage dealing class.

Anyone had a problem where the start screen is bugged and looks like 2 different screens pasted together?

Nvm all sorted, if anyone else has it change AA and AF setting is Catalyst Control Centre to "Use application settings".

I need to spend a good few hours alone straight with this, only about 2 hours in and thats consisted of about 6 different play times which isnt helping lol

Seems really nice though, loading times seem a bit slow at first load up but then works silky smooth

I'm the same, it's obvious spending less than a hour at a time on it at the start just isn't good. I keep creating new characters, playing for 15 mins then realising I won't have enough time to play for 6 hours solid so play other games instead.

Yep :( its a pain!

Especially as its not hand holdy so its fairly cobfusing at the start so not focusing is just hindering the experiance for me!

its a slow burner isnt it! i spent a couple of hours last night just wandering around the first town following up on that murder quest and just clicking on people. Something better happen soon!

is there a tweak to get smooth scrolling? Thats one thing thats really annoying me at the moment, the relatively slow movement of the characters and quite juddery screen scroll. Ive got vsync and triple buffer on.

Oh and the conversations where you have to argue between your own party members is a pain in the bum and seem totally unnecessary.

It's an incomplete feature. Your companion is supposed to have a personality but, other than loyal (agrees to everything you do), those don't exist yet - they will be added in a future patch.

It's also interesting in multiplayer - the other day, I was playing with a mate and he kept trolling me by choosing the replies that declined quests or ended them sooner than normal and beating me at rock, paper, scissors.

This game must win some kind of award for worst and most pointless implementation of Depth of Field ever!

Yeah, it looks like it might be interesting when it works, but atm it is very poor. There is also a 'random' personality, which just means they sometimes agree with you, sometimes don't, but it is pointless(and very simplistic) as most of the time you can just initiate dialogue again a second later and they respond completely differently!

I'm looking at getting a copy of this as next months game splurge, a friend of mine descriped is as "Baldur's Gate twinned with Fallout 1/2", would that be an accurate assessment? If so I'm happy to walk to the dev studio and throw my wallet at them in exchange for a copy.

I'm assuming this is more story driven than some of the other Divinity titles, they crossed more into the action RPG genre in my eyes?

I'm only about a quarter of the way through so take this with a pinch a salt. It's definitely a solid party-based RPG with reasonable combat and what I'm hoping is going to turn into a good story. However it is lacking heavily in terms of characterisation compared to the likes of BG and I don't think its a classic - I doubt many people will be referencing in a few years time unlike the BG and FO games.

That said I reckon its well worth playing, especially for the £11 it cost from the link earlier in the thread.
