Divinity Original Sin

The MP is just a glorified SP really where the leader has the save game. When your other MP buddy isn't online you can continue as SP on the same save. It's still great playing with another person though.

Really enjoying this game - haven't got so involved in a RPG since Baldur's Gate!

Although I keep dying! How do you increase perception? I went to the beach west of the town and kept walking on exploding traps.

What's the new companion? Are they in the starting town?

There are several extra NPCs to be found, from which you can add two to your party.

You can also swap them about later.

Two of them can be found quite quickly in the starter town.

Those traps just seem to keep on giving!

Perception can be increased via special items and also levelling up.

The area you're near can be a bit challenging for very low level characters.

Hi.

I just bought this after getting bored with a sequence of action games. Before I start to play are there any mods that you would recommend? Or should I just go vanilla?

Not played anything like this since Baldur's Gate II!

Cheers.

The only mods are cosmetic really. There are a few balance ones I think, but I've nor tried them.

There is one, iirc, adventure mod as well. None are particularly worthwhile imo.

They are all on nexus and steam workshop, but tbh, I have been a little disappointed with the lack of mods with this, especially considering the tools have been released.

It is a good game. Enjoy.

I've been using the same two NPC's since the start, if i pick up another one from the starter area will he/she auto level to my level or start from level 1?

I believe if you pick a new henchman, they will jump to your level.

If your existing save was created with the base game, you can't get the DLC companions unless you start a new save :(

Just started playing this. Very very good game. Great graphics (lovely grass :D) One thing which is a tad inconvenient is that when you level up you have to go and buy the skillbook to get the spell you can use when you get to that level. I think this must be the same as previous divinities (though i didnt play them). Best RPG ive played in a long time and i'm still only in the first town (messing around stealing and **** :D)

though the temptation to scum save/load is sooo hard to resist :(

Killed Mangoth in the Immaculate Catherdral, last night (112 hours played). How far from the finishing the main quest am I?

My only grumble is that I have a few side quests that I cannot complete now (e.g. the chap who threw himself off the cliff near the spider queen and who's goblin sidekick wanted to save him but can't because I 'met' the characters in the wrong order or something) so they're just sat in the quest log :(

And that's that!

162 hours to complete, I feel knackered! :D

The romance ended up being unrequited, which is a bit of a bummer, but there's no way I'm playing back through that again!

I really should start this again. I think I got a little bored with it or it just wasnt the right time to get into a game like this. I found that making a few errors in stats just causes so many issues that I couldnt continue.

I never got past the first chapter :/ Just lost interest. This coming from someone who played BG1/BG2/ToB more than once, so commitment isn't my problem :p

It was decent game, but the mechanics didn't excite me. I think I've been thoroughly spoiled by D&D mechanics.

Yea I get what your saying. I found that the battles were fun at first but then just got a little boring. Also that bloody battle music...why have such up beat music all the time?! :P

I found that the 1st fights were the hardest, once you've got a few levels under your belt then you'll start to know what you want your characters to specialise in and the fights do start getting pretty easy later on.

I started with a fighter & a 1 handed & shield wielding, pyrotechnic battlemage, by the end of the game the battlemage was an archer who hardly used any magic apart from one of the healing spells.
