I think it's a perfectly reasonable idea.
You could have a Rover Metro that you absolutely adore, yet would still like to hire a Porsche to impress your mates with.
 
When I read people thoughts and comments on an internet forum, I tend to get a sense; an idea of what kind of person they may be. Having read a few posts of yours, you seemed very confident and self assured. Yet your thread screams insecurity.

What have these people done to you in the past? Why are you are going to all this trouble. Why the vain attempts to make them think you are something you are not. Why not be; you?

My boss was a fitness fanatic; he was in good shape, but such a vain man. He would talk about his wife with disgust regarding her weight etc, explaining to everyone at the same time that when he married her, she was a size 8 stunner, as if to justify his reason for being with her. When I met his wife, she was a really nice woman. You could see she adored him. She doted on him, he was always clean and well presented every day for work, testimony to how hard she work at home. She supported him emotionally and was clearly the backbone of their relationship. He would not last a minute without her.

I find it a real shame that in today’s society we are so judgemental and superficial. It’s the reason why many people find themselves discontent with what they have. The reason so many relationships end in break up and divorce.
 
I'm not sure whether I have more pity that you're so insecure that you need to impress people that you haven't seen for ten years and don't even like, or disgust that you'd go behind your girlfriend's back because you're too embarassed to be seen with her.
 
Dont bother going to the reunion, all they are is willy waving contests anyway. Its obviously tempting to go back and rub it in their faces, but what your trying to rub in is fake, you would probably spend the whole night on pins wondering if they have sussed you out.

What happens if the escort is known to any of the other guys there? Maybe they have used her services in the past? Just something to bear in mind, you would probably have to have a date with her before, to get the ground rules down pat.

People are very judgemental, at the end of the day, its your money and your life.
 
You WILL get busted. Imagine how awful that will be! Don't do it. Take your sort-of girlfriend and have a laugh. Why do you feel the need to play these games with people that you don't care about?

I don't understand why you would completely embarrass yourself here in front of your Current friends to impress knobheads you knew ten years ago.
Have you no shame or do you really feel it is acceptable to take a whore out pretending she is your woman ?
I have to say the whole idea is pathetically sad although Amusing so thanks for that.
Mostly i feel sorry for your woman and hope she never reads this thread.

It's the sort of storyline that dodgy american movies are made of:
  1. Slightly non-Jock guy wants to go to high school reunion but wants to "show them Jocks" he's made it
  2. Takes an escort who accidentally blows his cover
  3. At the same time, his real g/f turns up and realises what he's done
  4. Big argument ensues in front of all his old school year, she runs out and school pals laugh at him
  5. He realises he's been a dork and begs forgiveness from g/f, she eventually does so and they slow dance to some cheesy tunes..

So I arrive into work this morning (late due to the country famous A14 once again having an accident on) and find this thread floating near the top of GD.

There really isn't much to say.
I hope that the original post was a joke, a wind-up and that later today we'll all get a good chuckle as we get confirmation on this - I know I will smile.
If however it isn't and this is a serious thread then there are only two things I can think of saying to the OP:

1. Grow up
2. You're a ******
3. I hope to god that you are found out and if there was any possible way I could assist in you being found out I would - at any cost.

Won't go to a school reunion with your GF because she isn't pretty enough and you're scared all you old mates won't be impressed.
Words fail me that there are people who actually think this way.

I was about to say the same.

It's amazing how excited people get about someone else's life. I guess that's why they like watching crap like Big Brother and other such things.

It's hillarious watching people in this thread try and pick apart and over-analyse DF. I'm not saying he's morally correct from my point of view or that he's right or wrong - but it's really rather an interesting thread.

I for one am really curious as to how he gets on and finding out about it. I'd never have the balls to do anything like that.

Agreed. The good advice and fine humour in this thread has been lost amongst the moral posturing, although I'm sure that's amused DF as well.
