Doctor Who

Agreed that was most excellent, having said that to me so far the whole series has been.

Wondering though, will the Doctor ever get his TARDIS back ?? He must have something up his sleeve to get that back, without it, well it wouldn't be the same.

The Time Lords (as well as similarly powerful beings) are able to divert the TARDIS's flight path (The Ribos Operation, 1978), as the renegade Time Lord known as the Rani also did once (The Mark of the Rani, 1985). The Rani used a Stattenheim remote control to summon her TARDIS to her. In The Two Doctors (1985), the Second Doctor also used a portable Stattenheim.
I know his suit is well fitted, however I bet he has a trick up his sleeve (fnar fnar)

Yes, of course he will! (remote control possibly)

Thoroughly enjoyed tonights episode, a few reminders back to the past though - The Ood remind me of the Robots in Robots of Death and the whole mining ship thing also seemed a bit similar but the story was totally different.

Anyway. As to the voice. Sutek anyone? Is it possible that the planet the base is on is actually Mars and this is quite a long time in the future? Am I clutching at straws here?

Very good thinking, will have to stick Pyramids of Mars on tonight then. I;d never have thought of that.

But I thought back then that the Doctor sent Sutek to near enough the edge of time, oh wait hang on, he near enough was at times edge !!

Hmmm. Interesting though that would be, I somehow can't see them bringing Sutekh back. Plus, if the place they're on is Mars then that means Earth would be long gone into the black hole.....which would mean that these humans didn't come from there. And you'd think that being human they'd know if they were on Mars and would have mentioned that fact.

Of course, that does hinge on them being humans....they seem to be, but it's never a sure thing in DW....

Were you not paying attention to the program? :p
He states quite clearly how far Earth is away something like:

"See that bit? go right, a bit further, and then carry on for 500 years and you will get to earth."
a long way away then.

Wouldnt have thought it would be mars, in series 1 when earth was destroyed the last human was Cassandra. The people on Mars clearly recognised them as humans meaning that Cassandra was no longer the last human, meaning it cant be mrs, or am I totally off the mark?

Something struck me as particularly interesting in this show - The Doctor specifically states that TARDISes are "grown" rather than built. I don't think that it's ever been mentioned before in the TV episodes (may well have been in the audios/books, haven't heard/read many of them), and it was nice to learn that the TARDIS may well be alive in a certain sense. The Doctor always seemed to treat it as a living thing (I recall him saying in "The Five Doctors" that it was more than a machine, and needed "coaxing" and "persuading" occasionally :)).

I enjoyed it and am looking forward to next week to see how it is all resolved. I could not help thinking that in some parts it was how the film Event Horizon should have been :)

no

the Event Horizon used magnetic coils to contain an artificially created black hole.. not a natural phenomena..
