One thing we could say for sure in an HBO version of Doctor Who is that the assistants would be wearing much less clothing for parts of the episodes, LOL

They just seem to try and make you hate the show at least a few times each episode. I don't know if I missed anything as I wasn't paying that much attention but why was the bratty girl being such a **** randomly out of the blue. She did it twice with no apparent reason or is that teenagers in the Dr Who universe.
I seriously cannot imagine that the producers and writers don't realise that this series has been dire in general.

Smith isn't stepping down from some quick dredging, so I guess John represents a future version of the doctor that will probably cease to exist after the anniversary special, since he was introduced as the doctor who screwed up basically...i guess, fair play for finally giving people something to think about hehe

Putting the rumour in spoiler tags in case its true (looks like it is going by the end of the episode)
The rumour is that John Hurt plays a Doctor that would have been the actual 9th regeneration (or thereabouts) and for unknown reasons the following regenerations supressed their memory of him or something.
He's supposed to be a version of the Doctor that the versions since John Hurt have tried to keep secret. Least that's what my understanding is, they're ashamed of their past actions as that version of the Doctor. (Makes sense in my mind at least!) Hence the Doctor's secret.
It's not a spoiler, it's pretty clear if you rewatch the last bit.
