Doctor Who

One thing we could say for sure in an HBO version of Doctor Who is that the assistants would be wearing much less clothing for parts of the episodes, LOL  :D

Have you ever community? Their version of Doctor Who, Inspector spacetime, had an American remake just like that.

John Hurt plays a future version of the doctor that was banished by the Tardis as he revealed the Doctors secret. The Doctors can co-exist as they are in the Doctors timeline so although there are more than one Doctor they are all the same one.

That's my take anyway, Best episode so far and great to see River.

I enjoyed the episode.

Not sure who John Hurt is. Or why the doctor said he choose the name the doctor

But
Clara jumped into his time stream she would have seen all the drs, even the future ones that we haven't seen yet unless the current one is the final dr who.

Well that was an 'interesting' episode. Being deaf, watching the episode on iPlayer before subtitles are available makes it a bit harder to get some parts of the dialogue.

However, John Hurt? Fantastic actor. Legend. Surely the biggest name ever to play the Doctor? I can't see him playing the Doctor for long.

Particularly as Wikipedia says that Smith and Coleman are returning for series 8! :D

Clara seems to have been a wasted character completely, they could have done multiple episodes of her fragmented selfs in the past before he stumbled on to day zero version of her which would have led nicely to what she did in this episode.

Rather than the crap they decided to do where the Doctor mutters a single sentence each episode in the hope that that makes a season story arc - the lead writer should be embarrassed. Why couldnt they reintroduce the great intelligence again in the previous episodes like they did with the Silence...

ps3ud0

I dont think she saw the future versions and that John Hurt is a past (very early?) Doctor thats been kept secret for not upholding his name...

Great choice in a Doctor, shame it looks like its only for a special...

No it won't, they have already thrown that piece of history away.
Probably blame it on the timewar or similar.

Anyway, they built an entire series (very badly) towards the impossible girl ending, and with the impossible girl ending, spent 32 minutes building and 12 minutes of soppy mush, and then ended in a three minute finale teaser towards the special.

So roughly three minutes of good doctor who in an entire series, as the impossble girl business was all utterly wasted simply leading to a teaser.

I will watch it again tomorrow to see if I can decipher more when the child isn't crying at the terrible waste.

I look forward to the special, simply for John Hurt playing the secret doctor.

Because the Doctor is 'known' to have 13 incarnations
Well up to 13 which the writers at the time will find a way to ignore. But then as this is the Doctor's timeline all 13, theoretically every Doctor ever would be there. But then the BBC would be a bit stuck. They can't exactly cast two people to make up 13 incarnations when it could be a few years before Matt Smith hands over to #12. :p

Which will be retconned around in about 10 years, give or take.
Reckon it'll take that long? I reckon within 10 years they'll have to sort out how to move onto #14. :)

As for the doctors timeline, and now we know time can be rewritten, that was the gift they learned previously, so generations can be rewritten, the great intelligence tried it, and the clara undid it. The doctor entered his own timeline.
It is possible the future cracks and future timelines haven't been written to his timeline yet, even though he was meant to be dead, the cracks might not be there as they haven't occurred yet so to speak.

Just had a thought. Maybe John Hurt's incarnation of the Doctor will explain why Clara only saw 11 faces and not 13? If all the incarnations of the Doctor post-Hurt's incarnation have 'forgotten' him, maybe he did something naughty with the 13 reincarnations limit? ;)

I've often thought that the BBC should as a one-off special between two incarnations of a Doctor have a famous actor play the doctor but one who's bad and fed up of time and is basically corrupt. Because of his attitude he does something stupid and has to regenerate thus leading into the new actor. It'd be one way of getting to the 13th regeneration a bit quicker and thus tackling it earlier! :p

Since we have not seen the 8th - 9th regeneration hes either an aged 8th or the real 9, making the other go up a number, making smith the 12th. Well maybe even the 13th and final if you consider the regeneration that caused the duplicate 10th doc

Series 8 has been confirmed on the bbc website but I don't think smith has been confirmed yet?
