It was just a dark, somewhat scary episode like Blink and Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. I had hoped we would get some of these types of episodes back with Mr.Capaldi but all I have seen thus far is kiddiefied stuff with Mr flamin Pink.
That's how you do an episode, I spent most of the episode cursing them for giving the Cyberman thing away in the adverts, kind of forgive that at the end with the other reveal though.
They really haven't made this a constant-running theme. Granted there have been bits in nearly every episode but they felt more tacked on than useful to the theme.
True enough, I'll save myself some time for next Saturday and guess it needed be a 3 Parter like Utopia, The Sound of Drums & the Last of the Time Lords where the first part worked as a standalone episode but also moved a lot of pieces into place for the finale 2 parter.
Brilliant episode and Capaldi is seriously fantastic, is stern and serious personality is so spot on. I do love that we're getting to see some intelligent reveals very much in the flavour of RTD's style of giving you enough clues to figure it out but connecting them up for a great finale.
Question is...
why is Clara not herself? Is she a plant? Why is The Doctor suspicious of her? What's her link to The Master?
Also does this mean that lady is the master's wife, the actual master, or is it Rani? She said "The Master" but he was cremated so is he able to place his soul into the ring that (supposedly) Rani picked up?
I couldn't disagree more mate. We've been inundated with the story arc form of seasons and seen how that hampers the show's ability to travel to these different planets and visit different beings. Even when they tried it felt like a throw away episode just lobbed in randomly.
It's been perfect how they've integrated this build up into the show so far.

I LOVE IT!!!
No, she is the master. Regenerated but as a woman. The Rani didn't pick up the ring at the end of last of the timelords. It was that woman who brought the master back in the end of time part 1.

Did the master regenerate as a side effect of the Gallifrey chaps sending new regenerations thru the time vortex?
So any time lord on the other side got a fresh set, including the dead master?
^^ has she been in it since ecclestone?
the master was introduced and built and the rebuilt as a character since the new launch, anyone not mentioned ahs been ignored, they haven't reintroduced anyone properly so that's why it is easier to reuse him, and show a time lord as a lady again
No reason the rani couldnt have been used. pretty sure the great intelligence was a reintroduced character first encounter by the 1st/2nd doctor and re-encountered by Smith's. its not that far of a leap to reintroduce the rani
