Doctor Who

I enjoyed the episode probably Moffats best Christmas episode (not saying much I know) I wasn't really expecting much considering how the last series ended and when you saw the girl dancing in the medi bay I thought we were continuing the low standards of last season but it pick up with it being funny, tense and even a bit of a sad at the end when the doctor seen the old Clara. Yes it did have all the happy rainbow and sunshine crap at the end but its a Christmas episode from Moffat you kind of expect that :p

My eldest is a 12yo with ASD and he's been obsessed with Dr Who since he was 3yo. He gave up watching the new series about 3 episodes in - and his exact response to this years Xmas special as the titles rolled... 'WTF did I just sit and watch'.

I hope they either do some drastic staff/writer changes next year or just cancel it and be done with it.

Agreed. The Xmas episodes are always a bit hit and miss imo. Generally too cheesy and childish, whereas I think this ep struck the balance pretty well between serious and cheese.

Okay it was clearly a rip off of Inception and Alien but isn't most sci-fi these days a regurgitation of someone else's sci-fi plot? Given the dross we have had to put up with for a lot of the latest series I was quite pleasantly surprised with this ep!

Completely agree!

Besides, it has Jenna Coleman in a nightie. Personally, I just wish they would do another WWII story where she could keep the 1940s style of her character in 'Captain America'.

Probably the best Crimbo episode they've done.
Very enjoyable I thought.

Like others have said, Inception + Aliens, but I'm also going to + Red Dwarf's "Better than Life" too :D

As an aside, did Santa call the Doctor "Peter"? It was hard to tell due to Capaldi being a bit noisy at the time.... hmmmm.....

Aww, Moffat is making Capaldi a lot lighter next season. I really like the crass, angry and incredibly impolite doctor. It's a refreshing change and Capaldi pulls it off with perfection.

That's right, they haven't released an official air date but a vague "Autumn" announcement.

Side question; what is Russell T Davis working on these days? He was utterly phenomenal and I think all the haters are now back to sitting in their seats with a mouth full of their own hats. He made a name for himself so there's no way he's just sitting pretty this far after his reign in the whoniverse.
