Doctor Who

Scifi magic, don't ask questions. Bored of Dr who again, probably stop watching, but then again there's nothing good on other channels either.

How can the sonic sunglasses transmit signal through a faraday cage?
I did wonder that myself. The only big down point for me in the episode.

I'm sure however that the Tardis transmitted the signal between the Doctor and the base staff. The Tardis laughing in the face of Faraday cages the world and time over! ;)

Really enjoyed that episode however, the Sonic Sunglasses can **** right off.

If he doesn't get a new Sonic Screwdriver soon I might actually be moved to right a letter of complaint to the BBC! what on earth were they thinking! lol

Wut?? seriously. It's a fictional device, it's an invention of the imagination. It's properties and abilities have been changed down the years on numerous occasions to suit the storyline. That said it suddenly morphing into a pair of sunglasses is taking the Michael. Matt Smith might just have pulled it off, but on a "old" Doctor it's cringe worthy. Peter Capaldi is a great actor, but he's been given some right tat to spurt out this series.

I had hoped for better things with the introduction of Torchwood and it's darker more gritty feel, but that route seems to have been abandoned. Instead were back in the realms of "Its behind you!!!"

Yeah actually a rather good episode this weekend. Best one Capaldi's done so far imo. Very good actually. Kept me really engrossed. Good actors, no silly characters, some darker plot elements and a challenge for the Doctor to intellectually solve. If every episode was this good it would be a spectacularly good tv show.

But yeah, they still have part 2 to mess things up...

Thoroughly enjoying season 9.
Might not be the consensus here, but it's the most solid start to a season in a long while.

Yes the Sonic Sunglasses can **** right off, but other than that, I'm giving it thumbs up all the way. Plus I loved the guitar into music this week. :D

Think I'm going to be in the minority about that intro, the second the he talked about paradox's it gave the game away on the ending but otherwise, except for things that I suspect will be complaints for the entire season rather than an individual episode (those stupid glasses, Clara needing to have gone at the end of Eleven's run since they really have no clue what to do with her) loved it.

Actually felt like an old series episode. Just hope they reuse the Fisher King's race down the line, that suit was way too good for a one off episode.

As soon as he mentioned that the box was locked and couldn't be opened in the previous episode I knew that the Doctor was going to be inside it.

Pretty good episode though.

Didn't the previous Dalek story finish with essentially the same paradox?
The Doctor was all 'how can the Daleks know mercy?!' then has the idea to go back and save Davros...

Actually really enjoyed that one. Still managed to get some comedy in without it being farcical, especially loved that conversation on the Doctor turning Clara into a fighter. Davros brought that up to him way back during 10ths run and it never really got touched on. Not convinced on the preview of next weeks though, hoping for a serious follow up on the consequences of what he's done, it looks a little too lighthearted.

I thought it was pretty good actually. Showing a bit more of what i am expecting to see when switching over to doctor who. Im also not convinced of the next episode. Guess will have to see how it turns out.

Yes it's a kids programme. Yes it's a bit silly in places. Yes I hate the sonic glasses. But I'm really warming to Capaldi as the Doctor. If I close my eyes he sounds like Tom Baker who was the Doctor from my youth.

Capaldi as the doctor is much better than last series, but those glasses.....moffet why???

Aside from that, this series had made me want to watch the next one, whereas last series felt like a chore for the first half.

That was a bit 'meh'

Never been a fan of ones in the past, but hey, I guess the end where...

whatshername goes from being in wonderment at all the possibilities of being immortal to looking like she's ready to kick the doctors ass

.... was quite alright :)
