Doctor Who

I didn't quite understand what happened with Missy and the master... She "killed" him so that he would regenerate into her and he then "killed" her when she turned her back on him. He made it sound like that was the end for her as well. No regeneration would be possible due to the way he did it. If thats the case, when they were deliberating how to kill the doctor by dropping him off the roof a load of times didn't the master just zap him like he did Missy?

The Master wanted to kill the Doctor over and over, but was just trying to threaten him. Just killing him outright without any torture wouldn't have been any fun for the Master. He's a bit like the Joker with Batman. Without the Doctor, where would the Master find a worthy and fun opponent?

The Master also doesn't know how many regenerations the Doctor has left, I think it's already been shown he's got far more than the normal number as in one of the previous seasons he died thousands of times whilst in a sort of prison.

He didn't actually die or regenerate though - it was a time loop/groundhog day episode. In the last episode, the Master is making reference to how hard it is to kill the Doctor.

Overall a good episode but I was a bit disappointed that
That they gave Bill almost the exact same ending of Clara

That.

Especially since no version of the Master met 11 or the metacrisis Doctor. The Master and Missy probably think he's on regeneration 10 or 11 of his original run unaware of whatever it is the timelords did (be it a new set of regenerations or something more)

There was a strong implication that in return for reluctantly becoming the War Doctor to defend Gallifrey against the Daleks, the Doctor was granted at least one or more extra regenerations, possibly at the expense of the regenerations/lives of other Timelords. I can't remember if this was in "The Day Of The Doctor" anniversary episode, or in the Paul McGann web episode that was effectively the prequel to the John Hurt regeneration.

The writers have known that they will get to the thirteen generation limit sooner or later, they've had time to lay down some get-out clauses.

That timeloop thing wasn't regenerations but there's no implication about the timelords granting him more, they already addressed that on screen when they did whatever they did in Smith's last episode, they even shut down the obvious cop outs of the War Doctor and Metacrisis Doctor not counting as "proper" regenerations to keep the limit down. The only question is was it just a new set (something they were already stated to be able to do even back in the original series run, hell they offered the Master a new set of regenerations to fight for them at least twice) or something different, given the deus ex machina energy that came with it and was nothing like any regeneration seen before combined with the way earlier in the series he could conjure regeneration energy on a whim and in this episode he seems to have spent two weeks, plus whatever duration the Christmas special will span holding back his regeneration he well not by your standard Timelord anymore.

My point was more, that the Master is probably totally unaware of any of this business and while for obvious reasons every time lord would know of the War Doctor and his exploits, they wouldn't know of a regeneration burning half-human clone that was sent to another dimension approximately 7 minutes after it's birth and thus thinks 12 is his last life and leaving him to his fate on that ship was leaving him to die for good.

It was my understanding (or a complete guess) that after Matt Smith, he was granted an entire new set of 12 regenerations? I dunno.

Also we all know the Master (Missy) is not permanently dead.
If she can make herself remember to carry a TARDIS part by a simple slam against the wall, then you can be damn sure she'll remember when she thought she'd permanently killed herself and take the necessary precautions (armoured back or something :) )

So, the BBC are going to announce the new Dr after the mens Wimbledon final. I'm feeling more and more that its going to be a female Dr, even think there were some hints to that effect in the last episode.

Given the whole Missy/Master BS it's all been leading to a female role.

As long as it just skips all the dumb "oh look I have breasts" inuendos and gets into a good story I couldn't give a toss.

It makes absolutely no sense for the doctor to suddenly start handling situations "as a women" as he has been a he internally, brainly, so to speak?

Mate told me the favourite was the actress from the new Han Solo film and I immediately though it was Emilia Clarke :(

Can't recall ever watching anything with PWB in it but hope for her sake, if she does get the role, the quality of the writing improves or she'll be an easy target.

What if the Doctor finds Missy and they regenerate together into a combined Dr/Missy/Master so he can save Missy/The Master.

Or David tennant wakes up to find it was all a dream. :D
