Doctor Who

I have no problem with the Doctor being whatever, as long as it's the right person for the job.
If 100 actors came for the position and she was the best of the lot, then great, give her the part!

But, putting an actor (or indeed any worker into any role in any industry) for the sake of diversity or to fill a quota is moronic.
However, this being the BBC, I fear this was done for their touchy-feely charter.

Still, I digress and say I know very little about Jodie Whittaker. But she seems to have a nice confident air about her during the reveal and I'd like to see what she's all about in the next series :)

Its funny how those people labelling others internet morons, are too moronic themselves to understand the difference between "female timelords" and "female Dr Whos". I havent yet seen anyone complaining about the idea of female timelords, the ones who I have seen complain are complaining about a female Dr Who not a female timelord.

But then , seeing that distinction in peoples complaints wouldnt serve their agenda would it.

Which only goes to show exactly what the problem with our society is these days and how there is an increasingly large number pushing an agenda today.

I mean the person I'm replying to should cry more about political correctness gone mad!!!11

Lol, that sentence reminds me of a stand up comedian who did a piece about political correctness gone mad...who the devil was that....

EDIT: aha ! It was Stewart Lee...

Oops, it has a sweary in it...better link instead of embed

Supposedly the new lead always wanted to cast a woman. This is what annoys me the most is that he has cut half of the possibilities before he even started. It seems like he's chosen a woman just for the sake of it. I suspect because the show is failing and this is the last chance to save it.

Supposedly Jodie only has a one series contact.

Exactly. It isn't about getting the best actor, but to there was the agenda for it to be a woman no matter what, which in itself is sexist. Then when fans complain, they are labelled as misogynistic in order to shout them down.

I hope she's good, but the truth is unless they improve the scripts dramatically, the show will lose viewers and casting a woman will unfortunately be seen as the cause. I think there's a lot of people out there looking for an excuse to give up, as the quality has been quite borderline for a while, though it did improve for several of the episodes of the last series. Pity it dropped off again at the end though.

Well, she has said in an interview not to be scared of her gender and how excited she is as a woman to play the role. Not sure why she felt the need to also mention that she is a feminist, but there you go.

Its a pity really, that if it had to be a woman from Broadchurch , that it wasnt Olivia Colman, because Jodie's character in Broadchurch (Beth Latimer) annoyed the hell out of me and that image will stick in my head for a while.

I think the BBC missed a trick here by choosing a woman to become the new time lord? by not selecting a black,Muslim, transgender disabled actor to play the part. This would really have proved how politically correct the BBC is.

.
yeah i thought that odd. i was never a doctor who fan, who created him and was the character written as a man?

Dr Who is a male character, always has been. This just smacks of the BBC and their politically correct bs.

What next? A black transgender disabled Dr Who?

I haven't watched the program in years, so I don't really care either way to be honest :p

Then why even bother commenting?

Seriously an Alien DR with 2 hearts that can regenerate upon death and you draw issue with the gender, despite DR being an androgynous term. It's not like they've cast pee wee Herman to play Mohamed Ali. Get a grip.
