Doctor Who

Tate did nothing to dispel the fears I have of her becoming the most annoying companion ever :(

No chance - did you ever see any of the Bonny Langford episodes?

There is nothing wrong with having an assistant having a go at the Doctor if done correctly. I thought Tegan was great (also Tagan had better legs and dressed as though she was in Ashes to Ashes - woff, woff)

isn;t even the doctor but torchwood :(

I also don't understand what kind of moron they hired to design the place...
to stop a melt down caused by lack of power to the coolant, the system is to vent the super heated radioactive coolant into the 20 foot square control room, I mean come on who designs these places?
I don't want to be accused of spoilers but its not real :D

Something I can never understand, like from yesterdays episode where he said "I cant save them, I dont have time" or some such....

Surely as a time lord he has plenty of time...one of the things I've never understood is when he gets into this sticky situations, why not just trot back to the tardis, go back in time a bit and just try again.

IIRC going back on his own timeline can cause problems, I think the tardis is meant to help stop that, hence it's unusual for it to happen (IIRC it's generally only happened in crossover episodes involving two or more of the doctors).

You just have to look at the Red Dwarf episode with the Kennedy assination to see what can happen :p

And then he decided to stand and stare at tate when she produced the necklace for about ten minutes.

Must say though that I really enjoyed that episode even if it was ridiculously daft.

Seeing Rose at the end of it was a bit of a treat as well.

A few people have described Catherine Tate as "annoying", but I don't understand what you all mean by that, can you explain please.

They just seem to be judging her by 'The Catherine Tate Show' whereas in doctor who she is completely different. Pretty good i think.

She is irritating in the Jim Carey way, she overacts, as does Tennant, however it dosn't seem natural for her to do so.

What it comes down to is I don't believe she would have got where she is now by being so eccentric.

It would be a lot better if Tennant was allowed to play it straight instead of this manicness we see - he just seems too much of a clown in the recent episodes..

Something that bugged me in that episode...was the way Tennant runs..I hope to god thats "acting" and he doesnt run like that in real life. I thought for a moment he was going to break into a verse of the Sound of Music

John Barrowman takes the cake for camp running - see Torchwood Season 1 and Sound of Drums\Last of the Time Lords....

Now that Tate is a regular feature, there's no way I can watch Dr Who. She's gobsmackingly ugly and far too typcast. All you see is a reflection of her comedy repertoire; you don't see a new and original character. :(

return of the Ood
Rose for 3 episodes
Martha for 3 episodes
Sarah Jane Smith for an episode
episode about the doctor's daughter

Clear evidence that they ran out of ideas last season.

They got stuck on a formula (Dr finds new attractive companion; Dr's new attractive companion falls hopelessly in love with him after a mere 5 minutes; Dr begins to reciprocate love just as it's time for new attractive companion to leave the series) and now the whole thing's drop dead dull.

"Dr's daughter"? Pffft. Gimmickery, that's all it is. No subsitute for a real plot.

I assume that's why they're giving it a rest for a while after this season however you are wrong about the companion falling for the Doctor because Tate is just along for the ride and has no interest in the Doctor at all apparently. I must say though that the idea of a daughter is a bit strange...

Doctor/Rose lovechild?

I think Martha is only back because she had a two season contract but due to her being crapped they off-loaded her to Torchwood for a bit and are giving her a few episodes on Doctor Who to keep her happy. I think that's what it was anyways, remember reading it somewhere but can't remember where.

Also, I think they're going all-out for the final episode bringing back all the gang with a possible appearance of Davros as well.

Without wanting to read through the entire thread, can someone briefly explain two things to me...?

1. What happened to Rose? Did she die, get lost or other?

2. Why are the Daleks back? Didn't they die, get lost or other?

At the end of Season 2 Rose got trapped in a parralell dimension.

Most of the Daleks have been destroyed in the Time War but some of them survived for narrative purposes and keep popping up.
