They actually won Ru Paul's Drag Race too. Jinx Monsoon.

The casting of RuPaul's Drag Race Queen of All Queens, Jinkx Monsoon in Doctor Who season 14 continues a recent trend in RTD's second era as showrunner. Like Neil Patrick Harris before them, Jinkx Monsoon is also a Broadway star, having recently starred in Chicago, and their casting affirms that Doctor Who's new era is aiming big in terms of guest casting

I've got loads of them on DVD having collected them over the years. But been watching many of Pertwees stories as I've never really been much of a fan of his era. Only seen a few stories. Also was rewatching Tom Bakers Key to Time stories as not got them all.

Anyone here watching the older episodes that are now available on iplayer? (as in the 1st/2nd/3rd/4th) doctor? Watching tomb of the Cybermen, 1 episode a day at the moment. Watched the 3 & the 5 doctors episodes recently.

Someone lent me a load of the old stories on DVD but that was back in 2010, so that makes it a while since I last saw them. Thanks for the heads up about iPlayer. Got a lot of telly watching to do now and over Christmas :D

This show in it's current form wouldn't be possible without the funding model of the BBC, it's trash and most viewers have given up on it.... But the BBC push ahead with their queer, leftist, identity politics propaganda, attempting to gaslight the remaining viewers into thinking this nonsense is normal. You can't shoehorn in all the propaganda and make a good story, the end result makes no sense and it's pure cringe.

That's your opinion. I personally disagree and most people still watch and enjoy the show, without focusing on what you claim. Viewing figures also confirm the show is still popular.

Also how are what you claim as gaslighting not normal? I'm sure most people know or know of people that fit one or more of those categories.

Also you must be fun at parties.

That's your opinion, and you're wrong. Still popular? Compared to what exactly:

I'm not wrong though. Viewing figures have dropped for all broadcast TV. There are so many channels and streaming options. Plus catchup services. Eastenders used to get 20 million viewers per episode, it's nearer 4-5 million which seems the average for popular shows across the main channels now.

So despite people thinking otherwise it's not purely people switching off as they don't like the show now. Which is clear if you look at Tennants first era figures compared to these new specials. As most people are happy to see him back and from posts on the official Doctor Who social media pages that easy to see. Plus all those excited for Ncuti too.

Viewing figures have just gone down as less people watch TV now.

Barb shows 7.6 million viewers for The Star Beast. Which makes it the tenth most popular show for that week. Only beaten by Strictly and I'm a Celebrity. So yeah it's still one of the most watched shows.

So...... quoting a post but not adding anything to the conversation. Helpful

Facts vs feelings, or cope... in your case. :)

Stopped watching in 2014, it was awful and it seems to have got trashier every year. Only reason numbers increased slightly this year is down to David Tennant and Russell T Davies, sadly based on Russell's recent unhinged interview where he tried to justify changing a character, you can see why it's never going to work. To much focus or identity politics and representation.

If they cut out the politics and focused on making an entertaining show, viewers would return and stick around. But the BBC don't care about viewers.

no one is rewriting history. If it was a historical drama or accurate account of Sir Issacs life then yes I'm sure it would be a white guy playing the role.

But it's not it's a joke segment of a science fiction show.

You mean like in the BBC's production of Anne Boleyn?

_____

Steve, just wondered if you'd thought of a response yet, to the point I made yesterday?

There are clear facts in what I posted. You only have to look at the weekly viewing figures to see Doctor Who is still one of the most watched shows on TV. Even Great British bake off, Shetland etc which are huge shows had less viewers than Who. Which proves less people watch TV so less viewers for Who is expected and not unusual or dramatically bad. The facts are there, but if people want to ignore them and claim no one watches because the show is woke or terrible is living in dreamland.

Without the wokery and preaching do you think it would be:

A - more popular
B - less popular

No difference at all. After all the people moaning about the show and say they are done with it, still tune in for every episode just so they can go online and moan about something.

Haven't tuned in since 2014, I let the reviewers take the hit, so I don't have to.

People should probably leave poor Steve alone, he's clearly still enjoying the programme bless him.

You have to admit, the level of copium demonstrated by Steve is pretty epic. Be interesting to see how big the drop off in viewers is towards the end of the season, lots of older fans probably turned in this year to see if it back to old Doctor Who, only to be disappointed.

Panting like a fiend
but that was part of his character from day 1. Its only a recent , RTD, thing that Dr Who would probably bum a dalek
Just as well we've still got a rather old white guy with grey hair who looked like he'd just stepped off the set of Scrooge where he played the main character then.

It never fails to amuse me that people complain about a character changing in a series where one of it's primary defining features is that the main character has changed in almost every single aspect over the years, from simple things like hair colour, to age, personality*, height, weight etc.

*And he's run pretty much the full range of personalities including at times quite a callous seeming one, to one that cares massively, from one who'd do almost anything to avoid killing, to someone who IIRC consigned millions/billions of sentients to death or a fate worse than death.
