Doctor Who

I Really enjoyed that episode.

The lady playing Amy Pond and Matt Smith had some great back and forth dialogue between them.

The story wasn't the must interesting, i wanted the creepy eel to be in most of the episode lol, but i guess it would have scared the kids. I can brush aside the downers for now as the episode certainly picked up and went at quite a pace as it got going :).

The tardis looks about the same as the old one, not really bothered either way looks decent enough, and as others have said it has a very steam punk feel to it, but then again so did the previous version.

Looking forward to the rest of the season :).

pretty fit!

Oh my.

*monocle pops out*

She can be my companion any day! Wowzer, maybe a couple more pounds but other than that... *love smilie*

Overall I quite enjoyed it, the chat at the beginning and end about the tardis was hilarious (Swimming pool in the library and "there's a swimming pool round here somewhere" at the end) and I loved the brashness at the end when bringing the aliens back and telling them what was what. The rest of it however was nothing special, and you could see him acting like Tennant at the beginning then "turning into" himself throughout the episode.

Looks very promising I think, although the bowtie and jacket are a little annoying already. Hopefully the episodes will be a bit darker and less special effecty than they were in the last couple of series. When is the next one on?

Next Saturday, it wasn't a special, it's a normal series again.

Ahhh. :)

I did assume that but the ending made it seem more like a special.

EDIT: Actually, reasonably interesting point about the new Doctor. My sister mentioned that he seemed creepy when he was talking to Pond, I can see where she was coming from, seems like one of those "pervy" people you get in a club.

He's quite good, but the thing is, there's no 'character' anymore to these doctors. If you think back to the earlier doctors like jon pertwee, patrick troughton, tom baker, etc, they all had eccentricities which made them far more interesting. Today like most tv shows, everyone is good looking, very young, and very run of the mill.

You cant beat a bit of 60s dalek action - I must have seen this about 20 times when i was a kid :p

Are these robomen the precursors for the 70/80s cybermen ?

and lol death by fire extinguisher :O

Those films with Peter Cushing as The Doctor were terrible :(

They aren't technically canon either as it's a completely different doctor who built his own TARDIS in his back yard as opposed to being a Timelord from Gallifrey.

Did you notice a certain grandfather of Donna Noble's in those films?

Ecclestone and this new one are hardly good looking are they? :/ ok Tennant was but it's hardly all he was. I think they still have a good level of eccentricity to them.

I know what you mean. The classic series Doctors all had their own 'agenda' and sense of mystery about them and you never knew what they were upto. They all had unique personalities and eccentricities.

The modern series Doctors all seem to be samey and pretty bland. Matt Smith has elements of classic Doctors but again, I can see the 'blandness' already.

Hate the new intro music and the DW logo. Not sure what to make of Matt Smith aka the Lion Man. I just find his mannerisms a bit irritating straight from the start of the episode. Hated the comical music at the start too as he stumbled about the house spitting and gobbing stuff out.

New assistant is gorgeous, nuff said. Remains to be seen how the rest of the episodes pan out. I miss Ecclestone though.

There also didnt seem to be the necessity to have every companion of the classic Doctors to be a "romantic" interest.
