Does anyone else hate going to the barbers?

Going to the barbers sucks because:
  • There's always a screaming kid protesting over having it's hair cut.
  • I hate making small talk with the hairdresser, and feel like a miserable sod if I don't try to make interesting conversation when they ask me what I do etc.
  • I hate waiting and the inevitable uncertainty over whether it's your turn next or not.
  • You MUST give a tip. It's the law. Everyone else does, and they're all watching whether you're a tight-arse or not.
  • THE ITCHINESS!!
  • They make my hair look retarded with whatever jizz they put in it.
  • I'm going bald and resent having to pay full price. There should be a sympathy discount.
  • I always get the person who talks over me about something they're doing at the weekend to their mate who just walked in.

The last time I went to the hairdressers the only girl available was a really fat black girl. I said I'd like it short, with scissors not clippers. After about 15 minutes she asked if it was alright. I said it's still a bit long, could you take off another half inch or so. She tried to grasp my hair with her sausage fingers to try and get half an inch poking out to cut but had to admit defeat and say "I'm sorry, that's as short as it'll go" :(

I didn't have the heart to ask her to get someone slightly less enormous to have a go.

I'm not fond of it. There are about five people at the place I go to and only one of them knows how to cut hair. Two of the others insist on using a straight-edge razor that has never been sharpened.

Urgh... don't mention hair!

My hair is really depressing me lately. I'm going thin on top and the process has accelerated quite dramatically in the last year. My crown area is rather thin and I have a high hairline. I'm slowly building the courage to just get it over and done with and shave it all off but it's a scary thought after having longish hair all of my life.

Every time I go they always say 'are you sure'? Are you sure you're sure? then they turn to their colleague and say 'this guy want's it all off'

I usually get a 0.5 all over, but I usually only go when my hair gets 3-4 inches long.

Despise it, truly truly hate it. I tried a new barber when I got my hair cut last week and this guy is a ******* idiot. His whole shop is a shrine to Liverpool F.C and it's all he can talk about. His wife works there too, not sure in what capacity as she doesn't seem to move at all apart from her mouth from which she would give this hyaene-like laugh every time she find something funny on some program clearly aimed at those litteraly without a brain.

I might just get clippers and do it myself as I truly cannot suffer barbers anymore.

hate it for similar reasons. always end up getting total rubbish talked to me . last time i went i even got offered fake trainers that he brought out from round the back :p. always find it quite hard to describe what i want doing. well i think im describing it ok but when i see the end result im like  .

I've just found a new barber and he's brilliant. He's this fat Kiwi who is always in a great mood, knows his sport and tells some good jokes. None of this, "Going anywhere nice on your holidays?" nonsense. It's a nice change from the glum muppet who used to do it in Glasgow.

I like going to my barbers, the 2 guys have good banter and you dont feel like you have to talk to them. They also offer you free beers and whiskey. I have only accepted a couple of times
