reading today's telegraph today, it was noted that moyes has a tactic of not leaving a striker or any attacker on the halfway line when united defend a corner. i've never noticed this but is this the case?

Problems at Man Utd run deep

Good good, genuinely someone who knows something about footy. :) Your spot on with what you say, unfortunately Man U have accumulated a lot of arm chair know it alls, standard though, that's what marketing and winning does. The fans have to take their anger out on someone, unfortunately that is the gaffa. Djemba Djemba, Kleberson, Anderson, Veron? How much were they in total? lol

Bloody hell, that's upsetting. Sheedy was my boyhood hero over all others at everton. He's 54! I feel old :(

Sheedy could have an axe or grudge over something we will never know. If Sheedy was that upset he could have gone to work elsewhere. I would if the manager was showing such a lack of interest in the youth team.

Moyes to me seemed to over protect the young players as though he was scared another would get poached. Still that's one hell of a snub by an Everton legend publically.

Yea, It's all politics mate, Sheedy and Moyes never really got on anyway apparently. It's the perfect time to stick the knife in, Everton might finish above United this season. What a result that would be for Everton...Bet you'll be singing and dancing in the streets. :p:D Have you got your new stadium sorted? Did that plan with Tesco come off? I remember Lufc being absolute children trying to scupper the deal. This was a while ago though..

I thought this was amusing.
An interesting stat.
Its almost unbelievable.

Weve played 14, won 4, drawn 3 and lost 7...scored 18, against 19

Fulham have played 15, won 3, drawn 4 and lost 8.....scored 16, against 27

We are barely better than Fulham.

Please God.
I hope we lose against Olympiakos.
Then we must lose against Man City.
We have already lost to Liverpool.
Within the space of 10 days, we need to get knocked out of the CL and get hammered at home by Man City and Liverpool. Perhaps then the board members may realise that this guy is incompetent.

And to think that had Mourinho joined, we'd probably be challenging for the title. But we didnt even bother offering Mourinho the job. No. Instead we decided to go for The Mighty Moyes!

What the hell has Moyes done to warrant such support from the board? I mean why was he hired in the first place? What did he win to warrant the top job in English football?

Can someone educate me?

I actually think, for Manchester United, it's a good time to be playing Manchester City.

Manchester City were absolutely flying and now, having suffered a combination of injuries and forwards being out of form, might be the only thing to save Manchester United from a hammering.

Moyes is totally out of his depth and Manchester United fans are in desperate danger of slipping further down the table.

No idea but Arsenal have been doing this all season and it annoys the hell out of me. The real icing on the cake was vs Bayern second leg, literally entire team back around our box so even the players Bayern had held back were deep inside our half (beyond the centre circle).

When not winning I would always leave a short, fast forward who cannot contribute much in the air defensively (e.g. Walcott) on the halfway line to occupy a couple of players and provide a potential fast break opportunity. It makes total sense to have someone like Giroud back, because he is good in the air and is not going to outpace the opposition fullbacks. But you need someone up there if nothing else to stop the opposition taking liberties.

According to Shearer, some players might be playing to get Moyes out.
I wonder if this is true.
Its like a Mutiny.
I think Chelsea players did this recently. I can't remember who the manager was.

How in the he'll are utd fans thinking you have this 100m+ to spend? Your debt is still around 400+m isn't it? With financial fair play and potential no champs league do you honestly think glazers will spend that much? They have claimed to have this money even when you had fergie never got close to spending it.

I think it's more the fact the players are Fergies players and Fergie is no more. The dad they looked up to isn't there anymore. End of an era, everything you see is a common side effect of successful team changing managers.. Look what happened when Mourinho left. Like Neville said, the players heads on the line before Moyes, there will be a right reshuffle of players during the summer.

Chelsea doing a mutiny, yeah they love it. Scolari & AVB was it..

Honestly don't think moyes will go till fans turn on him fully and make it obvious like we did with hodgeson, maybe then utd owners will do something I don't think it helps fergie is In background maybe players hoping he comes back out of retirement to save the day

We'll have at least that much to spend, likely more. A large, managed business debt doesn't stop you spending like this, it's not an unusual scenario.

The Glazers have no choice but to spend as the commercial success will depend on it after the next couple of years. As long as they get the right manager, they'll benefit from it.

There is £100m in the bank according to the last 1/4ly reports (which have to be made public because the company is traded on the stock market).

On top of that there is the new £53m/ season shirt sponsorship from Chevy kicking in from this summer, and £60m / season Nike deal as of Summer 2015 (just for clarification I did say "within 18 months time") - even the current nike deal is worth about £23m a season. Thats without the £30m or so from the EPL and CL this season and all the other commercial deals (like Aon sponsoring the Carrington training complex).

Yes there is about ~£350m or so of debt, however after recently refinancing this debt the club are paying a minimum of £20m a season.

Fergie blindly ignored the CM issues that the club have had for quite a few seasons and on top of that for the most part had Vidic and Rio to rely on who are now plainly too slow for the EPL as well as Evra 's legs letting him down more obviously over the last season or two.

As Robbo suggested, all the deals signed in the last two or three years were on the proviso that the success would continue. While the team may not be as bad as they are currently looking (due to spirit / lack of belief in the manager etc etc) its also pretty clear that at the very least City, Chelsea and Liverool have substantially more quality in the right areas (or at least players in thier right positions playing to their peak) - Arsenal are probably better than Utd too although its fair to say probably 1/2 way inbetween but even with a couple of decent additions in the right place Utd could challange for that 4th spot at the least (depending on how individual results go). Utd just have to be careful not to do a spurs and get too many new faces in at once and not know which players comprise the best team

Even with the £100 mil, I wouldn't be so confident. Probably signings for Moyes - Osman, Tony Hibbbert, Yobo, another CAM and another just for luck.

I think we've reached the stage where even if Moyes had unlimited funds, he wouldn't be able to win the league or CL. He just doesnt know how to.

Personally, I hope they dont give him another penny and tell him to make do with the squad we have. Our players simply dont want to play for the manager. Thats pretty damn obvious. There are 2 methods to change this.
1. sell approx 10, 1st team players and replace them. (not easy and and this will take many years)
2. change the manager (this can be done over a single Summer).

I dont like to see people gets the sack, but Moyes is completely out of his depth. He's had 30+ games to make changes and we are playing like a Conference team.

He was SAFs choice.

The whole thing was a huge mistake IMO. They should have just moved on with a new manger of the boards choosing or bought in a mentor 2-3 seasons ago.

Having Alex's man on the touchline, with Alex staring down at Moyes whilst he's loosing the plot makes for hilarity.

I still don't buy he was SAF's choice. I think the board/fatcats just asked SAF to pledge his support to get the fans onboard.

Given SAF's record and experience, I doubt he would make such a monumental **** up by choosing Moyes.
