Obviously I'm not seeing something that you are so can you tell me what part of "it’s something that we as public health officials need to take very seriously", "We’ve just got to make sure that we are totally prepared", "Elderly with underlying conditions, heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes (should) not wait, but right now, to sort of take look at things that are at high risk, crowded places, getting on airplanes, and absolutely don’t get on a cruise ship", what part of any of those statements are downplaying things?

And no, "you guys" are not "accusing Trump of not completely shutting the country down back in January". For starters there is no "you guys" as I'm quiet sure everyone here is capable of speaking for themselves and we're not some amorphous blob, secondly (afaia) no one has said Trump should've shut down the entire country back in January, they're saying he should've take the issue more seriously instead of ignoring briefings that were warning him, playing it down, not preparing, sending out mixed messages, and instead of acting like a bull in a china shop being a little more nuanced.

As for the US not being in the top 10 for deaths per capita you'd probably want to add "yet" to that as this has a long, long, way to run and based on the rhetoric coming out of Trump's mouth and the feedback loop between him and the sort of protesters we've seen on American streets i expect that to change for the worse.

Was the leader of the house at the same briefing that Trump was meant to be at, was the leader of the house privy to the same intelligence, was the leader of the house responsible for the nations response?

No, people are turning it into a Trump problem because, compared to other world leaders, his handling of the situation has been woeful, have you watched or listened to any other nations daily press briefings? I suggest you do as there's a stark contrast between Trump and his constant I'm great, everything is great, this isn't a problem, and general nonchalance to 50k people losing their lives, and how other nations are going about informing their citizens and trying to do the primary job of a government, that of keeping their citizens safe.

How is it a CT? It was a story published in a trusted news source. The fact they walked it back and corrected it shows that. How many times does Fox walk back a story huh? How many months did they keep pushing the Seth Rich CT before they finally stopped? Even his family begged them to stop.

I'm pleased he isn't in the Chinese State Banks debt. I'd still like to see those tax returns and see what money he does owe around the world.

Oh and the unsealed court docs earlier??

That's exactly how the UK tabloid press operates. Well, with the addition of click bait titles that often aren't actually backed up by the content of the article.

Fortunately I'm sufficiently dismayed by what comes directly out of Trump's own mouth and appears in his own Tweets that I don't need to worry about whether the latest third party report about him is a dead cat, false flag or whatever.

Let's not beat about the bush here, even after it was known, even after the scale and risk were understood, he has continued to act in the most imbisilc manner and it has probably cost lives.

I admire the resilience of a lot of you guys here and in SC, can be an excellent resource for debate and information although very often it is one sided but still so many persevere in trying to appeal to certain sensibilities on issues of logic, rationality and evidence to no avail. It's really not something I find myself having any time for so I tip my hat. Another Limmy classic recently reminded me of this thread and others, it's "like arguing with an NPC", limited to their bingo card like dialogue tree (https://clips.twitch.tv/OnerousPleasantFriesKreygasm).

That's not 'fake news' it's a genuine mistake that, by all accounts, they attempted to not make before publishing, were contacted after publication with new information and corrected that mistake.

If Trump could do the same perhaps he wouldn't receive so much flak, it takes courage and humility to admit to a mistake, not being able to do so isn't a sign of strength it's a sign of weakness (at least IMO).
 
Hope you guys are ready for Flynns documents to be unsealed/declassified any minute now, DOJ just provided them more exculpatory docs and forced his old lawyers to turn over docs that they wanted kept hidden. They'll show how the FBI lied and how they could trick General Flynn into lying

He was guilty of process crimes, they invented crimes to go after him, they trapped him, therefore he had to plead guilty to his crimes, they tried to get him to lie by making dirt up on Trump in exchange for recommending 0 jail time

Same goes for all of them
