Smallpox was easy to contain compared to Covid.
Firstly it is rampantly, obviously uniquely symptomatic within the first few days of exposure. Secondly is unique to humans so cannot hide in animal populations before jumping back to humans again.
Neither of which is true for Covid. It's extremely unlikely it will be eradicated.

How is the vaccine for SARS or for MERS coming along... oh yeah they haven't. It can take over 10 years to develop and safely test a vaccine. They've rushed them before and it has led to tragedy. I hope they can find a vaccine and deliver it safely in as short a time as possible but history says it won't be as quick as some seem to think it will.

I'll never understand why the likes of @deuse don't actually read the articles they post before they post them. Rather its see a tweet full of outrage and post it here only for it to be shown as inaccurate or just plain wrong. You'd think they would learn but they never do.
