Dr. Disrespect permanently banned from Twitch

I used twitch to install Warcraft mods. Never took any notice of the people on it and I don't watch gaming stuff on YouTube (I generally play games) so I wouldn't say it's that hard to not know about him.
I'm not saying that with any sense of ego it's just a fact.

I'm pretty sure he's playing a comedy character, of course certain elements of how he acts is true to his real life character, he just exaggerates for comedic effect. Unless you think he normally sits around in a wig with sun glasses on shouting at the screen and foaming at the mouth?

I'm not denying he must have some comedic value, the point was he seems like a bit of a **** outside of the character with some of his past behaviours. It looks like as soon as he got some level of fame he used it to his advantage at an event.

Lots of people would do the same but to make him out to be some kind of role model for masculinity is laughable.

Fatal1ty's hey days are long since past though I am surprised how many older gamers aren't aware of the name.

Obligatory I fragged fatal1ty video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNj2F_0EawE

While Fatal1ty's fame may be long gone. He still can dominate and would no doubt cause DrDisrespect to rage quit if they had a match. Including these younglings that call him a boomer.

Which seems to be another sly remark so many of the young generations of gamers like to call that cannot seem to count.

I've watched a lot of Fatal1ty from his streams, never knew much of him until 2017 to present until researching him and his streams. He's no entertainer but he has exceptional game sense and prediction versus the all flash of DrDisrespect that's all mouth.

Even the time I was in Quake 3 gaming era I really didn't even know the name. I once too thought it was a Creative brand then found out about the MTV thing and little parts of his Quake stuff but still knew very little of him.

Thresh is another one that comes up a lot from Fatal1ty.

I'm legit surprised how idolised these streamers seem to be among the ocuk community.

I don't see any evidence to suggest they are. Can you highlight what makes you feel that way?

@mrbell1984 you're perhaps his biggest fan on here. Would you say you idolise him?

@Zefan do you want me to print you some t-shirts with you n him on?

or maybe I can put them around London with your parking charges and your face on for free? lol

OCUK members famously shun celeb culture and look down their nose at people who do follow, GD Is living proof of that. This the same just internet based.
If someone posted a thread about something that happened on some celeb reality show they'd be torn to shreds, this is absolutely no different to that. Idolised is the wrong word but the double standard however is in full view.
This isn't reddit thankfully so I'm not going to go through every members post history to prove my point.
I'm just surprised because I've only ever heard my 10-13 year old nephews talk about streamers. You do you boo.

I'm legit surprised how out of touch some members are on OcUK that claim they are hardcore gamers/enthusiasts/nerds. Whatever term, you would like to use.

This is mainly towards @Noxia because it's part of the discussion.

I never knew much of twitch several years ago from all the talk of so many people what they were discussing. I signed up one day in 2017 to start learning what was going on. At least I took time to understand their community. A lot of cringe, some good, some funny, some loved, some educational. There are many sorts on that platform but you mainly always hear the bad.

Some of my favourites has been watching some small game programmers who roughly has 200 - 600 viewers that are quite educational. Not the way how so many seem to think twitch is all smut.

Plus some of the OcUK dinosaur/hip attitude "who?" and sly responses like as if some people took time to find out about them as if they were some obsessed fans stalking them while donating money to them as if that's all to one's life. You know that big brush thing some people like to paint some OcUK members under.

You know it's possible to find out about things without being a fanboy that so many seem to think because they took the time to find out? right?

Which members are claiming to be " hardcore gamers/enthusiasts/nerds. Whatever term, you would like to use." and where are the posts saying such?

Yeah there are many like this, there's a guy who twitch streams and gives lessons on how to do C++ and so on for example. Several who draw and give you tips on techniques and allow Q and As on makes and types of materials to use. There's one lass who gives lessons on Physics and Maths and shortcuts to remembering calculation methods. Theres quite a few who give Chess lessons. Many people think twitch is just all about boobs and asian girls dancing and drooling nerds shooting and swearing, in much the same way that many older adults out there think that computer games are all about little cartoon characters and that little plumber man running about and that games are for kids and dont understand why adults play them at all.

Johnathon Pie means exactly what he says, it's just delivered through the proxy of the TV presenter persona. Not a great example :p

Well not entirely, he was interviewed in 2018 and specifically asked if he agreed with all of his characters opinions, to which he answered "some I do, some I dont, however it doesnt stop people not understanding that I am playing a character". So he doesnt mean exactly what he says, some of it yes, some of it, by his own words, not :)

You've not been reading the tone for years have you?

Gaming is such a broad spectrum I think it's perfectly normal that someone who is say a hardware enthusiast doesn't know who anyone on Twitch is. I think it's too broad a brush to assume people who are interested in gaming, whatever facet of it should know about internet celebs.

As said, I browse Eurogamer and this forum as my main gaming source, I rarely venture on to youtube so for my own case it's easy to see how I haven't heard of <streamer>.

If he was to say, OMFG u dont know what a playstation or xbox is. is then on point to question that person.

But some random wife cheating and pottential racist person on twitch ?? mate come on @V F

No one's said he's a role model for masculinity lmao. It's nice to have a streamer that at least promotes some form of masculinity even though it's obviously jokingly and tongue in cheek, he is actually into sports, lifts weights and talks about MMA, etc. I know these subjects can feel alienating on OcUK.

I'm surprised you've never come across an article about him then:

There are those and there are the snotty ones.

There simply isnt much point in me denying it, I've been gaming, most days, for nigh on 40 years and I intend to continue to do so for the next 40 years. Its by far and away my number 1 hobby. I mean, I dont know what the criteria is to be considered a hardcore gamer but I imagine I fulfill it.

Yet you did not kno who this DR twicth guy was until you read this thread hehe

Actually it's very simple, I go there for specific content, I ignore everything else. So no, I have never seen him mentioned on there or my brain just blanks it out. Much the same as your brain doesn't remember an inconsequential weed in the garden when you're looking at the flowers.

What happens to the money you people were paying now he's off Twitch? Or is that not a Twitch specific thing.
