Dubstep thread

I'm yet to receive my mixer from a very crap company.

But I think you need to skip past the drop into the main beat and mix from there. It's quite hard from what I understand the mix the song directly before the drop unless it has some snare snare at the beginning.

Looks like you might be right, really struggling to find what I would usually call full length tracks.

Will be a bit of a nightmare trying to mix after the drop with drums, snares plus synths and a huge bass!

the only thing I could think of is maybe mix some drumstep with dubstep or something from another genre.

I love Drum and Bass, Drumstep, House, Prog House, some Trance, all sorts of stuff, but I never really liked "proper" dubstep.

Anyway, introducing a track called "Raise Your Weapon" by Deadmau5 off his latest album "4x4=12".

If it was just "proper" dubstep it would be quite a dull thread :p

It's all the sub-genre's that make it interesting imo :)

I'm with Janesy B. Not really into the "who can make the most ear-piercing noises and synths" style of dubstep. Much prefer the deep, dark, tribal styles with heavy sub-basslines.

I suppose though, the low quality youtube vids and people generally not having huge bass bins at home would make good dubstep tracks seem dull.

Also, not quite sure how someone can state as fact the preferences of most people. :p

I can appreciate where dubstep comes from, just prefer the dirty style of it such as Funtcase and Bar9 etc :)

That's not even remotely near drumstep or dubstep :confused:

I don't mind the sub-genres, I do mind crappy and lazy dubstep remixes and horrible ear piecing synths. Also Deadmau5, in a dubstep thread? I may as well post JLS in the metal thread and be done with it.

It's a mix of people who have no patience and no subwoofer. When I'm on the move I prefer Drum & Bass but when I have time to actually listen to and appreciate music properly then stuff like Peverelist, Martyn and Scuba comes into it's own. I'm not telling people what they should like, but Deadmau5 and drumstep in a dubstep thread, it's a bit annoying.

I was going to post the same thing, but about 5 minutes through it got remotely similar to dubstep... Still not deserved in this thread though :p

True that,

Music is music, if you don't like it fair enough but other people do.

though, I have my limits. Such as banging on the walls when my sister plays *shudder* Justin Wiener.
