Dying Light GPU and CPU test

andy how you finding windows scaling with 4k?

At first it was awful, a real squint fest. The only downside of the monitor imo is that it needs to be bigger. But. It's a doddle to go into the control panel and change the DPI to make everything look completely normal. Chrome too has a Zoom setting to make everything bigger.

It's only really Yahoo messenger that's too small but I usually use my phone for that.

Gaming though? It's mind blowing. It's probably the first time I've ever seen a game image that looks properly life like with absolutely no jagged edges.

Of course it's all helped along by the fact Dying Light has crystal clear shadows. They were awful in Dead Island.

To sum the game up? It's Mirror's Edge meets Dead Island without all of the B grade actors with strange voices.

That's high praise indeed.

yeh im thinking of getting 1 sometime
i have to stream the game in co-op, i cant play it solo its too scary lol, getting trapped ontop a bus surrounded by 100 zombies is not nice feels!
esp when u only went hunting for crayons! :(

but i have been playing it way too much anyway

I've just tested it on a msi 280, 4670k everything maxed except the shadow map size was is set to medium and I'm pulling 40/60fps

in game vsync caps the frame to 30fps in area's for some reason so that's bugged! if I set shadow map size to high my fps plummets to 35/40 fps and the vram is almost maxed out where as medium the vram sits around 2200mb so it could be a vram bottleneck.

I am waiting for my 6gb 780 replacement to come back so hopefully the performance is much better and the 6gb will come into use. I mean cod aw, mordor was taking full advantage of the vram, they 2 games were using like 5500mb of it where as ac unity and far cry 4 are around 2.5/3gb so some games will take advantage of more vram!. I wish nvidia went 6gb+ instead of 4gbs tbh!. Games are unpredictable so far.

Zombies can't climb, HENCE LOTS OF CLIMBING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or get eaten, your choice ;) :p :D

haha i wish! some of them do climb!! i dont mind the going on rooftops bit but not the missions where u need to climb crazy high towers,
i fell to my death 6 times in a row :( so annoying
i almost cried lol duno why it needs to be that hard

dus any1 else get annoyed at all the climbing in this game?? lol

No not really. In Dead Island the option was there but it wasn't polished well enough to truly work.

This game is very similar to Mirror's Edge. That means a lot of climbing and a lot of falling to your death. However, when you get it right it's frickin sweet.

Nothing funnier than climbing up the back of a building, tossing down some fireworks and then running like the clappers :D

You have to remember that this and Dead Island are most certainly not L4D. They have an entirely different approach and IMO are more realistic. You could not take on 50 zombies by yourself so the best tactic is stealth.

Wonder if my freezing issues (not crashing, just freezing for 3-5 seconds every so often) are ram related, because I only have 8GB and I see with MSI aterburner the game is using well over 7GB ram and 3.5GB vram :o

Nah don't worry about it mate it's been happening to me as I get later into the game.

I've had a few issues with this now but certainly not enough to stop me playing it.
