E6600 Now shipping!

God I hate Citylink!

My processor was delivered today. I was in all morning yet it ended up next door because supposedly no one was in at my house. So next door didn't bring it round till after I'd left for work, blah!

No card through the door, they never knocked or rang the doorbell. WTF?

The good news is my 6600 is waiting for me when I get home tonight but the service from Citylink in my area just continues to be terrible.

By the way, your next door neighbour left for a 2 week cruise this afternoon :D

Actually they left for the south of France this afternoon, luckily they dropped the CPU off with my wife before they left :p

Heh just got dispatched email from them after changed order to citylink a few minutes ago, Thanks to the guy on the phone.

I'd go for the OEM, you may not get the 3 year warranty but how often do you hear of processors failing ? ...they are tough little things.

You may snap the pins off yourself etc but then you've voided the warranty then anyway. :D
i was tempted then, but a few more days is nothing compared to the wait so far, so I'm going to wait.

I got mine this morning and it was left on my doorstep! - £250 of kit just left!
On the plus side, I got it even though I was not in when they called. Saved me a 50 mile round trip to the depot after work!
It is installed and is nice and smooth - superpi 21s (compares favourably to 62 seconds with celey 2.53.)

I am also getting about 46-47c temp when running 2 instances of prime - nice ninja. :)

No need to be sorry matey - I had my shipping e-mail early this afternoon so as long as Citylink don't explode overnight I too will be taking delivery of my E6600 tomorrow and building my machine in the evening.

It was just that everything seemed to be working on a "First come first served" basis, you could see that people who had been waiting the longest were getting their shipping e-mails, then those who ordered as late as yesterday were getting theirs and then suddenly out of the blue you said you'd come on at lunchtime today, ordered, got your shipping e-mail 3 minutes later...then you vanished from the thread :)

It kind of "messed up that theory" so I was really just checking that it was a shipping e-mail you'd received and not a "Your order has been accepted/Received" as they do usually come through about 3-5 minutes later.

I'm pleased you've not had to wait and I'm sure nobody here is angry at you for ordering and getting your CPU that quickly - jealous I'm sure, but not angry and it's certainly not a situation you need apologise for :)

Glad your cool with it mate. I got my cpu all fired up and working now! This PC goes like stink, I can tell you! I havnt even OCed yet! I'm not sure i'm even going to, this is plenty quick enough!

Just o/ced to 333fsb and I am now getting around 50c with 2 instances of prime.

Anyone else with with the p5w dh deluxe using Asus pc probe II from the mobo cd? ever since I installed the core 2 duo it is throwing off a reading of 256c every few seconds  then dropping back to 50c. It did not do this with the celey 2.53. It is obviously an artifact of some kind and the number 256 is suspiciously binary. Any clues anyone?

And just for a laugh and to show I am an old bloke, i just ran quake 2 timedemo of the demo provided with the game - 766 fps lol! (with an x1800xt and a core 2 duo e6600 at 3ghz).

i did next day saturday so it should arrive tommorow morning if all goes well, im gona sit in the front room staring out the window to make sure they dont just drive off :p

Well it's in, sitting at 3.0ghz at mo and I'm getting temps of 27c idle and 32c load on a Scythe Ninja.

Very impressed, even at stock it kills my old rig.

Will give it a day to bed in and then see how far she goes :)

When you say load, is that dual prime load? if not, can you post temps dual primming please

Just installed my E6600 and Asus Probe is reporting an temp of 79c, surely this is way too high? The heatsink seems to be attached as firmly as it can be......

update: reinstalled the heatsink and now getting around 55-60c idle and up to 70c whilst encoding video. Socket 775 seems a bit fiddly on the fan installation compared to other standards.

It's not dual prime, but it's Lightwave rendering out a bunch of frames (multithreaded). I'll get some prime temps in a few for you :)

EDIT:

Right its all back stuffed under the desk so the temps are up a few degrees now.

Dual priming gives a load temp of 38c using the Asus app. Out of curiosity I downloaded the Core Temp app, which gives me 45c idle and 55c load.

Make of that what you will, its plenty quick enough at 3ghz to be honest - and as it's a workhorse reliability is king. It's nice to know its got some more in it though if I decide to go back to watercooling.
