There will not be a lot of E8600 owners, So need as many entires as possible to build a decent database.

Please use this thread for discusion to keep it active :)

Standard Rules

8+ hour Prime95/Orthos small FFT, coretemp and CPUZ screens on the same picture. NOT Intelburn

Clockspeed and Vcore readings must be exactly as CPU-Z on load, VID and CPU temp as in Coretemp,

Screenie will be in URL tags and not IMG tags. but please post IMG Tags so the post stands out so i know that i have updating to do on Original Post.

Post instructions:

To make things easier just copy and paste this little form and replace the fields between the [¦]s
Code:
FPO# ¦ Clockspeed ¦ Vcore ¦ VID ¦ CPU Temp ¦ Cooling ¦ Motherboard ¦ User name ¦ URL for stability screen

(I will bold your username and URL tag)

For examble mine will be:

Code:
Q820A670 ¦ 4330.3 Mhz ¦ 1.496v ¦ 1.2500v ¦ 81 ¦ OCZ Vendetta 2 ¦ Asus P5Q-E ¦ BornEvil ¦ http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/BornEvil_/433e0.jpg

so it turns out like:

Q820A670 ¦ 4330.3 Mhz ¦ 1.496v ¦ 1.2500v ¦ 81 ¦ OCZ Vendetta 2 ¦ Asus P5Q-E ¦ BornEvil ¦ http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c45/BornEvil_/433e0.jpg

p.s. not going to include mine as it does not fit into my rules lol, and the CPU is not going back into my Rig for further testing.

That's a lot of voltage for such a OC, I had it less voltage on my E8500 (4.5GHZ with 1.45VCore and 1.45VTT as 500FSB (2000 QP). ;)

Does yours happen to be a Week 20 Batch ?, I have a Week 22 Batch. :)

I posted mines here with reasons I'm only at 4GHZ for now :

Stated above Week 22.

I'm off to watch a movie, go and get your box and put in any parts you want me to fill in with my numbers etc.

I will edit this with the info you want later. ;)

And if you read that was 2x Case Fans at 50% and CPU Fan at 0RPM, temps were 60C in newest Speedfan/Core Temp and Real temp after running Orthos for hours in all 4 stages.

I will post REAL results once I get a new Mobo chosen and it wont be 4GHZ. ;)

Any lower voltage and it fails after 10-15mins no matter how fast all fans go.

I can't contribute much yet as I'm waiting for new cooler. However, as previously mentioned in the other thread, 4.00GHz ate 1.325V, and then it failed OCCT custom 15 minute test because of the stupidly high temps. Passed Super Pi 32M no sweat, but that's not a major stress on the CPU anyway.

Mine is the exact same batch / week as yours, BornEvil. (week 20). I think we got the ugly ones mate. Disappointing? Yes indeed, but I'll tell you more when/if I can cool this thing down. Even at stock it's a beast, though, I have to admit. Quite a nice difference coming from an AMD 4800+ @ 3.00GHz on a cheapo Gigabyte board.

More to follow...

I also think I've given up before I've even given it a real chance. I just can't see things improving very much even with a good air cooler.

Now I have to think of a way to get a new one. Damn.

BornEvil, that's too much voltage for one of those cpu's. Low clock for that amount of volts too. Have you tried dropping your voltage and tweaking your mobo settings? It would appear that the retail versions of these E8600's are not as good as the early samples. Pretty dissapointing for a £176 cpu.

Over on XS you can see peeps claim the retails are better than the ES's.

Week 20 are said to be not to good, Week 22 are best, and then there is Batches etc to add to the mix.

I have exactly the same numbers as 1 peep on there (well 1 I have seen so far) with a good CPU, seems same as mines, same voltage etc for each speed.

That was on older version of coretemp, it was showing the temps as fixed at 45 C idle or load.

Just downloaded the latest and now VID is showing 1.1 to 1.25v and temps are locked at 40 C and still dont move at all even under load.

Having given up waiting on E0 Q9550s I'm looking at buying one of these today. From all the reading around, I'm guessing I have to shoot for a week 22? Do the week 22s run cooler as well, or just clock better? I'm beginning to wish I'd just picked up a Q6600 before they went rubbish :p

good grief - lower the volts
no wonder its that hot!

I know the Voltage is too high, but just showing that my CPU needs 1.5V to get stability at a mere 1Ghz Overclock.

Motherboard has been messed with and is optimal

I updated my Bios to the latest which Asus say supports the chip and it still wont read the temps, RealTemp reports 0 sensor movement. Do you think I can return it? Trying to call OcUK support but its always busy.

Edit - Finally got through to support after 45 mins in que. They have confirmed it sounds faulty and have given me an RMA number. Think I will ask for a refund and stick with my quad, its put me off the whole thing now, wasted a day too.
