well ill be doing it with a P5Q deluxe, and very OCable Geil black dragon 2x2GB PC8500 ram.

also im getting a week 22, so hopefully its possible.

oh and i dont really care for prime intel burn test etc.

if its stable in 3dmark and in my everyday usage (gaming) then, to me that is all that matters.

Well, I can game and bench at 4.7GHz... but it ain't considered stable if you can't run Prime for 12 hours+ :p

Also I would like my chip to last a while, hence the reason I'm not going above 1.35V and 65C.

Still as long as you're happy.

I have been reading this forum over the weekend and it seems many of you are achieving interesting results.

Me on the other hand... I am struggling quite a bit with my E8600, I can only seem to get stable at 4.4Ghz @ 1.38v, 39oC idle and 51oC load.

Specs:

Asus Rampage Formula
E8600
Sapphire 4870x2
4Ghz OCZ Reaper

If I raise the FSB up from 440 to 450, the CPU requires 1.45v to keep it stable in prime.

I don’t think this is a motherboard issue as I can run stable with an FSB of 500 and multi of x6.

Any suggestions to reach the next mile stone of 4.5Ghz without the use of such high vcore?

Current settings:

Multi: 10
FSB Strap: 333Mhz
FSB: 440
RAM: 1057Mhz

vCore: 1.375
CPU PPL: 1.60
NB: 1.49
DRAM: 2.20
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.40
LLC: Enabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
C1E Support: Disabled
CPU TM Function: Disabled
Vanderpool Technology: Disabled
Execute Disable Bit: Disabled
Max CPUID Value Limit: Disabled

Btw if anyone could do some bencmarks at 453x9.5 and also at 453x10 that would be most appreciated! (anyone with a 4870 at 1680x1050 preferably? :p - games benchmarks please if anyone can)

Wondering how much of a difference the extra 200mhz would really make if I had a better chip.

As good as none, your GPU will definitely be the problem at that point, you already have a fantastic chip :)
