Easiest way to flash your X800GTO2 via dvd \ cd

Does anyone have any info if the new Sapphire X800 GTO2 cards with Vivo are still moddable? Sapphire is now shipping dual-dvi versions of the X800 GTO2 with Vivo and I have one on order. Most importantly, I wanted to know if it will work with locutus12 16-pipe bios cd. I don't expect delivery until next week so I can't confirm this myself just yet.

I received the X800 GTO2 Vivo today, and will post my findings in case anyone is interested. First, the card already has 16 pipes enabled (checked with AtiTool.) This agrees with several postings I have seen on the web from other buyers of the Vivo GTO2. However, the default clocks are 400/490. The bios reads as an X800 bios. I was able to overclock it to 540/590 (default X850XTPE speeds) with no artifacts or overheating. Going to fit an ATI Silencer on the card before any more serious overclocking. Don't know if an X850 bios would be of any benefit or break the Vivo.
Cheers

That's a very good overclock on your card. I haven't maxed mine out yet but am holding at 540/590 until I get the Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer fitted. I just ran 3D05 at 6734 @ 540/590. If I can overclock it as high as yours I will report the score as well. Did you flash the bios on your card? As I mentioned, I didn't have to.
I still would like to hear from any owners of this newer revision of the Sapphire Gto2 that already has 16 pipes enabled :)

ignore that its worked fine !

its just i didnt get any beeps or sounds after i had done it, and it was still displaying 12 pipelines in ati tool after i had done it... BUT.... when i installed the catalyst drivers ati tool now says 16 pipelines. YIPEEEEEEE :P

Hello locutus12. Perhaps I may reply to you directly regarding my X800 Gto2.
After reading your posts and other posts on this forum and on AnandTech, I was inspired to buy a Gto2. Very happy that I did, it is a great card for a good price. I was all ready to flash it with your bios cd. Are you familiar with the newer revision of the Sapphire Gto2? They now have Vivo and dual Dvi connectors. Most oddly, they already have 16 pipes enabled but still use the X800 bios. The core is an R480, with Samsung 1.6 memory. Do you think it would be beneficial to flash this card? I am getting very good overclocks and performance otherwise.
Cheers :)

Seeing as the bios flash is to enable all 16 pipes ,then you don't need to flash do you? ;)
Overclocking is done via ATI tool.

How much are those GTO2 VIVOs going for btw?

Locutus12
Yea I heard about the non-moddable ones after posted that :(
But even with 'only' 12 pipes its still a good card ,btw I've heard that some of the very recent ones are moddable again:)

Right you are, Assimilator1. All 16 pipes enabled by Sapphire, no need to flash.
I purchased the card from a Canadian store for CAN$245.00, which is approx. EUR$176 or 120 pounds. Comes in a nice retail box with all cables, software and a choice of four games. Hopefully OCUK can bring some in, Sapphire's site said they are still producing this card :)

Will do, the store here is supposed to be shipping my Arctic Cooler today, hope to get it by Thursday latest. If I could have bought from OCUK I probably would have had it already! Managed to get the Gto2 up to 550/600 tops with the stock cooler. 14,148 pts. on 3D03. "She's getting hot, Captain Kirk!" I will post any improvements with the new cooler :D

its the new C3D GTO`s that are not modable, all the GTO2`s have been so far, although with the new ones already having 16 pipes + vivo (what ever that is :p ) i see little point in modding it, just clock her up and off you go :)

Thanks for the advise, locutus12 :) Darn, I was so looking forward to using your flash cd! I really don't know what the heck Vivo is either :D
Got my Arctic Cooler today, will post my findings when I get it installed.
Cheers.

VIVO = Video In Video Out

Btw I finally got all the bits for my mates PC,built it ,installed & imaged & now all I've got to do is see how far the Opty 146 & C3D X800GTO overclock too :D & if I can unlock the GTO (it was bought sometime back from the 'unlockable' era)

Hmm ,which shall I overclock 1st the CPU or GPU? ;).......

Thanks for the vivo definition! So simple. Got the ATI Silencer installed, temps reduced by 10-15 degrees depending on load. Very quiet, I now leave the fan on 100% speed. Didn't really change the max. o/c though, it goes to 550/610 without artifacts. Been running it at 540/600 without any problems :)

Here's another vote for the Arctic silencer.
It was very easy to install. Easier that the ones for the old 9800pros.
I was hitting 75C on the stock cooler with 540/585 overclocks.
Now I'm down to 55C.
Also, it's dropped about 3C off my CPU temps too. Because it vents the hot air from the GPU out the back of the case.
