Easiest way to flash your X800GTO2 via dvd \ cd

I agree benskia :) The Arctic Silencer is a great product. I also had one on my old ATI 9800 Pro. That was a good card at the time, but the stock cooler was rubbish. The cooler fitted to the Gto2's is better but still no comparison.
Very good temp drop on your card, 20 degrees! And excellent overclocking results. I also prefer the card being vented out the back, makes much more sense. I just checked with Motherboard Monitor and noticed a bit lower case temp too, 27 degrees at present.

Man I can't believe this! ,my mates X800GTO has gotta be the worst overclocker I've seen yet! :(
ATI Tool found artifacts at just ~420MHz core & its dropped it back to 418.5MHz ! ,& that's still on 12 pipes!
GPU temps peaking at 77C ,fan @~67%

I hope this card will at least work on 16 pipes.....

Btw anyone know why the 'FUSES' data isn't showing?
On Cat 5.13 drivers

I managed 6,775 in 3Dmark05 with 16 pipelines, core 564mhz, memmory 609mhz, i set dynamic fan speeds but temperature never exceeds 55C (80% fan) even after several hours on call of duty 2.

For some reason the fan speed on my card didnt increase proportionally to temperature when i let the card take care of the fan speed which restricted my clocking. But with dynamic fan speeds its fine.

my spec:
- AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA4000BNBOX) (CP-120-AM)
- Asus A8N-SLi Premium nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-111-AS)
- Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS)
- Sapphire ATI Radeon X800 GTO² 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-101-SP)
- Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 320GB 3200JD SATA 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-045-WD)

Nice overclock! :D

Turned it out it was partly the fault of the beta version of ATI tool I was using.

But the GPU was still a poor overclocker ,with 12 pipes its max was 462MHz ,426MHz with 16 pipes.
Max memory was 558MHz with 12pipes @ def clock & 542MHz with 16pipes def clock.
Still the extra pipes gave a healthy ~20% boost in performance :)
[edit]Forgot to say ,this C3D card was from the 'old' batch back in Nov 05

Left it at def clock with 16 pipes as I had to hand the PC to its new owner & I didn't have time to find the long term stable clock rates.

btw to answer my own question ,I hadn't pressed shift :o

my gto2 came unlocked to 16 pipes, and with VIVO

ATI Tool ays I have the R430 core, its clocked at 553 for the core and 606 for memory though, which isnt too bad.

My first computer upgrade for years...its like seeing new colors O.o

...even though the only game i tried was NFSU1

Hey just a couple quick questions, what kind of vga coolers are you guys using to OC your gt02's? I'm kind of hesitant to try and OC to xt pe speeds with that stock cooler but i was wondering if any of you are getting stable temps with the stock coolers at xt pe.. But if you're not i'm interested to know what coolers everyone is using, i was thinking of getting the arctic cooler for it, does anyone have any experience with that cooler for their gto2? Also another thing, if i do get the arctic cooler will i need to one for the normal x800 or the one for the R430/R480 core (i know it's the r480 core but i was just wondering if there's any conflict with the actual layout of the gto2). thank you for your time, thanks in advance for any help on the matter :)

the stock cooler is fine for overclocking, its the same cooler as the one on the X850 pro and XT. spending any more money on the card reduces the value for money aspect. youl find 95% of the people with a GTO2 are running stock coolers.

Just had a play around with my card (flashed to 16 pipes) just curious, when i click in ati tool and choose that show 3d view box thing. I get around 250 fps and my tempsm shoot up to around 64*c in about a minute, is this normal (idle is around 38*c/36*c)

what temps on this card should i begin to start to worry, I have standard cooler on it.

Cheers. Im running 526/590 and so far no problems, play BF2 quite a bit

Thank you

Yes its normal for the temps to go up quickly.
Your temps are fine :) ,on my mates PC ,his GPU went upto ~78C all on default. No idea why it was so hot ,seems to run fine though.
Went to 81C with 16 pipes.
Maybe the smallish case didn't help ,but it does have 2 case fans (inlet & exhaust).

what kind of temps do i need to start to worry about ? with this card, after 2 hours or so with BF2 I am getting about 64*c that ok ??

Just curious, all new to me, temps, OC'ing etc...

thanks

what is your fan speed at 64? Using ATI Tool, I changed the fan speed settings so that the fan kicks up to 90% over 55 degrees, and now mine'll only go up to about 60, when overclocked @ 590/604.

edit: holy thread ressurection :o

anything between 35oC and 75oC is fine. personally the new GTO2`s are pretty crap, most are X800XL`s in disguise, they no longer seem to come with the R480 GPU and the nice samsung 1.6ns memory (as per the X850XTPE) instead they now seem to come on a blue circuit with a different design, with an r430 core and memory that in a lot of cases has not clocked too well at all. but then the price has come down a lot on them seemingly to reflect that fact.

if your going to buy a GTO2, get one of the second hand ones from the original batch, should be able to buy them in MM for £100 to £120 (they will out perform a 6800GT with no trouble, mine scored 6250 3d05 marks @ 535 / 580 67oC)

I wouldn't say they were crap ,but I take your point their not as good overclockers as they were.Personally speaking I don't think the GTO2 was worth the extra money anyway ,I go for the Connect GTO.

Still haven't been able to overclock my bro's GTO as the mbrd was duff & I had to send it back :(

the original GTO2 was worth the extra money given the power they gave :) 6250 3d05 marks from mine, thats only a few hundred under a 7800GT. some got over 7000 from theirs, but the newer ones dont come close :(
