eBay - RX6800 eBay Sale Going Wrong

tbh i have no smypathy for folk trying to cash in on the price bubble, its only greed that makes folk put gpu's on ebay, plenty other outlets to sell a gpu with no issues at all just lower sale price

What are you putting into Spongebob Squarepants?

Never you mind...

its not greed wanting to sell stuff for what they are worth.... not that i would sell anything on ebay myself.

I got stung selling a ryzen 3600x,basically a lost parcel even though it was tracked, two weeks and the buyer had a refund and probably still using my 3600x now, and to make matters worse, the post office didn't accept responsibility, ebay took payment out of my PayPal account without me knowing and I was left with - 143 quid.
After that, I cancelled my eBay account, don't use PayPal anymore, don't use the post office either!
made me feel better!
I do all my business now on gumtree, collection only, I had other minor situations on ebay, yes there is a lot of fraud on ebay, never again

What did the tracking say? If it showed as lost, and assuming you had enough insurance, then not sure how they could not take responsibility?

Not sure why you'd "hear of" it though?

They surely must, otherwise people would buy working ones and return their own broken ones left and right.

Not sure about gpu, but I bought a motherboard from a retailer last year, they email me the board serial number before shipping it out.

of coarse it is, there are many places to sell a gpu maybe lower price, if you wanted what it was worth then put up a price and sell it for that at the many places, have no smypathy for you at all if goes pearshaped tbh

Like i said, you can not prove it, annd you are wrong as others have said

Some people now use UV pens, if you sign the cooler with your signature and take photo proof of this including a photo of the serial etc then if you get a card back with no UV pen mark on it then you know its the wrong card sent back. Its not just proving to Ebay that you sent the working right card its the proof the seller needs to know that the card they got back is the card they sent. Taking it to the extreme they could then take this proof to a small claims court or whatever. Some people never dream that the item they send is not the item they get back. A lot of people using Ebay are dont realise how many scammers there are on it they might have had 1000 successful transactions. It can lull you into a false sense of security until you hit that bull Ebay Customer Service.

Its okay saying you cant prove it and you are wrong but it matters who you want to prove it too so in a way they are not wrong.

I understand what you are saying fortunately I've never been in the situation where an item that came back was not the same one I sent but I have come across Ebays bias to buyers many times. In any case they have shot themselves in the foot with the new managed payments anyway which will probably see a dip in genuine people selling and more scammers moving in.

I was trying to get back some of the money I paid for it to fund the RX 6900 XT.
Having said that, next time I'll probably just take it to CEX.
They test it, if it passes, you get paid, no stress.

Closer would be "buying an expensive graphics card then swapping it for an even more expensive graphics card at the top of the market just before supply eased and all the prices tumbled".

At the height of this madness I listed a pair of R9 390 8GB's and they both sold for around £200, and I used the money to buy an RX6700XT.

I didn't expect them to sell for anything like that much, but if people want to bid them up to those dizzying heights, who am I to refuse their cash? :p

Prior to the panic they were probably worth £40 each.

Exactly, I have no qualms selling on ebay if that's what people want to pay, I got £350 for my vega 56 to help fund my 6800 which at £799 was overpriced but still a bargain considering todays prices, and if you are willing to take the risk then you are only cutting out the middle man as CEX will sell for a much higher price than you get.
