EE - 4G

More speedtests

Looks like it is being hammered by people if it's only getting 8Mbps whilst upload is 15Mbps.

Get better speeds at different times of the day?

Low signal strength too, could be a factor? Impressive ping and upload considering the circumstances.

I only remembered to flick off WiFi and try it just now, will try and do some tomorrow during the day. The signal is pretty weak, it's staying with LTE now but earlier on I saw it fall back to 3G.

Only last's aslong as they still working for EE too - no-more 'for life' discount.
Wha :( This retroactively applying?
thing is i don't understand why it picked maidstone as my nearest server!
It's the nearest node to the GGSN in 3G networks (or in your case, the PDW in 4G). The internet only meets EE's network at a very few points, it's not from every mast.

The discount was changed some time ago to only run until the employee still works at ee. If you were given the discount before a certain, the discount remains for the life of your contract.

It does not retroactively apply either. Also, if you swap to EE, the condition state that you will remain on the "for life" discount if that is what you already have albeit it drops to 40% from 50% for T-Mobie customers.

No just new F&F customers. Happened after late 2004 afaik.

EDIT - Ah you meant when you join EE as an old t-mob F&F customer - it's as above, discount just drops to 40%, 1st month is full price aswell.

Ah well. I'm interested if you guys are seeing much shift between HSPA and LTE in 4G zones if anyone is experiencing it. Switching interface is obviously extremely punishing to handsets usually so I wondered if anyone is on the edge of coverage and experiencing any er... "interesting" battery life like the first 3g handsets did. I realise this is an edge case in terms of customer numbers but if anyone's going to spot it - it will be you lot ;)

Was at the EE HQ earlier and got shown a few tests - 30 download, 13 upload. Impressive stuff.

The test was run on an iPad connected to an access point which was using 4G. (or something like that :p)

They've increased the prices of handsets on 12 month contracts. I was thinking of the Note 2 or the Lumia 920 but not at these prices (I think it's £60 and £130 more respectively).

I am disappointed though, I was in the store ready to purchase but they didn't seem to care about losing the sale.

That is massively disappointing.

The 12 month £56 tariff is now £159.99 upfront when it was £19.99.

(24 * £46) + £19.99 = £1,123.99
(12 * 56) + £19.99 = £691.99
(12 * 56) + £159.99 = £831.99

I'm guessing the original 12 month tariff handset costs were a misprice?
