On a good HSDPA connection it's not noticeably slower than my 60mb connection at home...

I love gadgets and tech but 40mb/sec on my phone....why?!? :D

just to have it really. For the past Couple of years I've had no Interest in mobiles and was happy using my desire S. , then got to urge to buy a note 2 LTE and now find Myself wanting a 4G contract. I don't use Facebook, barely use twitter but love reading the forums etc.

Lite I said, , just fancy it- Maybe I just Want to see that 4G logo on My screen LOL

The more I think about it, the more LTE just does not appeal to me. If I can get 10mb connection pretty much consistently from Three, will I really be able to tell the difference....And the prices....crikey.

You can't though, go out into the sticks and you won't even get 3G. LtE is very good, just not yet and certainly not for that price/usage.

LTE has several benefits one of the most important is signal traveling much further allowing less populated places to get mobile Internet.
 
The range (and object penetration) of an LTE signal isn't any different to the range of a comparable signal of the same wavelength/freq. I'm not sure how you mean LTE travels "much further", unless for example you're talking 800MHz LTE vs 2100 UMTS. An 1800MHz LTE transmission won't travel any further than an 1800MHz UMTS transmission. :confused:

Pretty much.

Frequencies are licensed. So thy can't put 3G on those frequencies and vice versus. Unless they get special dispensation.

So you'll never get 3G penetrating the country, like 4g will.

I can't remember which frequcies which but the other 4g frequency being auction, is better for inner city's with far more data capacity.

Rather than discussing the ins and outs, it's easier to just say 4g will give this this and this over 3G.

I live in the sticks in Devon (nearest shop 5 miles away) and 3G through three is great here. I get 6mb download which is remarkable considering the landline is 0.4mb download. In saying that I'm looking forward to 4G as it should be a viable option to broadband if it has unlimited plans and not this 8gb for extortionate prices, what's the point in having lightning fast speeds if you can't actually download what you want?
 
Skype now requires ULTRA BANDWIDTH, I'm not really sure they should be allowed to get away with that to be honest. Cracker, as I understood it, BT will be rolling out packages piggybacking EE LTE next year.
 
Aren't chitter chatter still offering the Full Monty plan for £15/mo?

Maybe they'll get better prices.
 
I'd generally consider myself a bit of a mug for paying over the odds for new tech, but this is just ridiculous!

I'd probably want the 5GB package which works out at £39.99 for a Note 2 and £51/month for 24 months. That's £1,264!

I could get unlimited data and the same phone with Three over the same period for £450 cheaper...
 
Those data limits combined with those prices are ridiculous. I know that it is new technology which they need to charge for but I was hoping that EE would set a new bar for the industry when it comes to data limits for mobile devices.

I'll be sticking with Three.

Clearly they haven't heard of Usenet, Bittorrent, or Youpr0n :p
 
I'm hoping the high price means the London 4G cells don't get congested like the 3G ones are and that I can enjoy some clear airwaves for a while.
 
I'm stunned at this. I thought the point was to future proof the network for people's data requirements?

So why should I pay £10 more to get exactly the same amount of data?
