Eight months later - R8 Delivery day!

They aren't the same steering wheels at all....much thicker in the R8 + RS cars.

JP you should definitely save up and get a Capristo exhaust, you'll thank me later. ;)

Also drive safe during winter, remember the Quattro on R8s is 80% rear & 20% front. :)

Lol the chap just bought a brand new V10 R8 and if I recall correctly spent 2k on a pair of headphones recently; would highly doubt he needs to save up to buy an exhaust :p

So excluding the thickness, they are the same. I wouldn't say they are worlds apart if that's the only differentiator. Looks the same as my A1.

I didn't say worlds apart. At the end of the day it's a steering wheel. You think an M3/AMG steering wheel is 'worlds apart' from a bog standard 3 series/C class? Because they really aren't.

Just looked at the new pictures. Stunning colour combination, the interior is perfect also. Really really nice. Enjoy!!

Beautiful, a friend of mine also owns a R8 V10 and it's a wonderful machine, fantastic to drive also his has a manual box, the sound of that V10 is bliss.

And the fact he's a good driver, he doesn't need to be warned about the power distribution of the car :p

The steering wheel is great, I never owned another Audi so I don't know how it compares but with the R8 V10 you have two options, a thin one or the thicker padded one that I went for.

Think I will be keeping the stock exhaust for a good while, it is nice and quiet under 4k rpms but when you get on it and the valves open you can hear it just fine without being deafened.
Also looking at the installation procedure for the exhaust you have to disassemble most of the rear end to get it out! May be in a year or so :p

Red has been getting a lot of surprise complements from people who thought I was nuts not getting white or black, I think because it has a bit of a red and black theme going on but then I kept it "classy" with silver wheels so it doesn't look too over the top.

And thanks Blackhawk, I will be taking it easy as I also don't know how good the Contisportcontact 5P tires are, still need to fully wear them in but so far the traction light has come on a few times  and I wasn't even doing anything.
Will see how those last but PSS will be going on next I think.

I think it is 15/85 but if slip is detected from the rear wheels it can do up to a maximum of 30/70 to help pull it back round.

Fair do's, my mate just had his done.

They do sound awesome though, only topped by the old V10 that was in the Murcielago.

As for it being too loud, you get a remote control! With it on the lowest setting it is quieter than stock. ;)
