Eight months later - R8 Delivery day!

Only had it a few days and already most people I meet have asked how much it cost, how much is insurance and how much is servicing.

I don't mind but I don't think I have ever asked someone how much their car was, just seems a bit rude and easy enough to Google it anyway.

Played Golf today though (lovely day on the North Norfolk coast :D) and Audi are having a laugh if they think you could get two passengers and two bags in the car!
I have a lightweight carry bag and had to rest it against the seat in the passenger footwell as I didn't want to squish it in behind the seats and mark everything up back there.
 
Yeah I can't say I've ever been so nosey as to ask what some body has paid for x or y but fair play for the answer. I don't think any harm was meant and you could quite easily have said bugger off :D

I struggle with two golf bags and a passenger in the Mini and that's got a boot!
 
Surely that doesn't happen?! I wouldn't even want you to see me looking, let alone come and ask you about how much you paid for it!
The attention must be a major downside to a car (or anything I guess) like this. Although I suppose some people like it...
 
Yeah it happens, did with the GTR also, most people come and ask the MPG or how much power but some ask value also.
I don't mind some attention, smiles, waves, thumbs up etc. but obviously didn't buy it for that and just drive it around revving it up setting the exhaust on fire :rolleyes:.
Sure I posted on here but mainly because everyone on here appreciates cars where most of my friends don't have the slightest bit of interest in them!

Get it a lot with the 911 mate, what year is it, how much was it, blah blah. I just tell them 105k, lol.

I paid 38k four years ago, 4 years previous the first owner paid close to 100k. Scary how much a well spec'd 911 can cost when you pile on the options. :eek:

I would expect even more questions, including what is your job, where do you live and the classic, what is your financial situation? :o

Its only ever happened to me once in the Panamera never in my 911.

I love the look of the R8, its got a real super car look about it but thats part of what puts me off because it just gets too much attention when you are out and about.
 
I have had it in the S2000 quite a few times. surprisingly from people driving significantly more expensive cars than me.

can imagine it being a more regular thing in something as imposing as an R8.

I wouldn't dream of asking strangers about finances in public.
basically the same as - 'oi mate ow much u got in the bank pal?'

on the forums its a little less direct and we are all enthusiasts so it is a little less judgemental, JP could easily mention that he would rather not disclose it and that is that. but agreed, it is certainly interesting to see the payment plan in place on more exotic vehicles.

I bet your insurance isnt too much tho, people seem to think supercars cost 10 of thousands of pounds to insure.

Insurance is only £765 which is £300 less than the GTR was!
