*** Elden Ring ***

yeah performance so far has been ok, one small blip and that's it, just turned off things like depth of field

Some quick thoughts, locked at 60FPS and for some reason although I'm on keyboard and mouse with no controller plugged in it's prompting me for controller inputs, thought it might be a bug with Razer but others seem to be affected. Looks like Q maps to back and E is OK/Select. Also mouse look feels like it's accelerated, or at very least a very high sensitivity, either way doesn't feel right so I'll probably need to adjust settings. Didn't really intend to play tonight, so will wait until tomorrow when I get back from work.

You can change the prompts in the menu settings so that it prompts you with mouse and keyboard prompts instead of controller prompts

Running at a steady 60fps for me at 1440, no performance issues at all. Had to turn camera/mouse right down to 0 as it felt way too fast/sensitive otherwise.

So far so good, shaping up to be really good, done the starter section and gone out into the world proper, will give it a real go tomorrow :)

60fps pretty solid @ 4k max with HDR on (3070). There have been some frame drops but they dont feel consistent so it isnt a lack of power seems to be these supposed bugs. Not particularly annoying and definitely not a reason to "wait a few months"

What a great game so far!

Just played for 3 hours. 4k/Max settings on a 3080 couldn't hold 60fps, drops to 50s in some parts so I changed to 1440p. I tried tweaking the obvious settings like shadows but they look terrible below the maximum setting, some weird flickering. No stutters here.

Apart from opening a chest and getting teleporting across the map to some Bloodborne looking swamp which took me a good hour to get back to the starting area since I didn't have the horse its been good. So I wouldn't advise exploring straight out of the gate, go get the horse!

edit: ok I take back what I said about no stutters, just got to stormgate and the microstutter is pretty bad. will have to fiddle with some stuff, saw somewhere that turning off hardware accelerated gpu scheduling will fix it but I doubt it. Might just pick it up for PS5.
edit2: couldnt fix the stutter, just ordered the PS5. 45-60fps with motion blur on PS5 but thats better then stuttering all over the place.

After reading up this morning im more convinced than ever that the "issues with performance" is likely "precious nerd rage".

I played 3 hours, definitely saw some slowdown esp in new areas or when a new enemy spawned. Was not particularly egregious. I suppose it depends on your sensitivity. For reference ive killed 5 bosses and am level 22 (i think?) so have actually done quite a lot.

Just installed new AMD drivers and the stuttering has got much worse, screen flickers as if freesync is going nuts for a second. Really does seem like a shader cache thing, pretty sure FS will sort this quickly.

Runs fine for me at 4k with maximum settings, using my alienware laptop, 3080 16gb.

I could look and move around with the controller but the buttons were not working....

niceee, stupid messages getting appraised

Yeah, what is that about? Never played a DS game before so looking forward to giving this a proper go tonight but suspect a lot of things will go straight over my head, at least initially.

Oh, and I expect to die a lot.

Well, you can leave messages for other players and some people just use that to troll, like all the messages with "illusory wall ahead" in the past games when there wasn't one so you kept banging your sword against a wall for no reason:D

Teleport to last resting place unlocks well before the horse.

Any chance this could get you flagged and banned due to easy anti cheat?

Looking at the FW notes, it says "you must ENSURE" EAC is disabled, and "!!USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!", so I'd say every chance!

Try it and let us know for sure. :p

At Gatefront Ruins now, will do a bit of grinding here. Tried taking on the first boss you come across in a cave but only got him down to about 3/4, my Stamina drained so quick from blocking. That's one to come back to.
