*** Elden Ring ***

This sounds pathetic but what is the easiest class to start with? I've not played a souls game and I'd rather make a start without being frustrated at every turn and then play through again afterward with more of a challenge.

I'd say Confessor is a good strong class to build from, good armor, decent weapon with good arts and can use miracles to heal if you run out of healing flask. Good springboard to go full melee or miracle or both!

Anyone else using the ash summons in fights? I was using the wolves sometimes as they make a nice distraction for fast bosses, but ive just used the Marionette archers on some dog boss.....they solo'd it....i think they might get nerfed

Miyazaki said he thinks this will be the souls game with the most completions and its easy to why when they have given the player so many tools to advance through the game whilst keeping the souls experience in tact.

Kind of regretting going magic......its great for clearing trash but trash for fighting bosses.

I am kind of regretting it, but only because like all Souls games in my experience, every piece of gear I pick up seems to require faith or strength!(mostly faith)...that's why I never play full INT build. My character is INT/DEX so at least I can still mix it up when I need to.

I'm running round Lake Liurnia atm. Come up against quite a few enemies I might have to come back to when I've levelled up a bit

Using similar thinking myself, and went Str/Int. The drawback is that I don't excel in either magic or melee as I have to spread level ups around too many stats (I need Vig, End, Mind, Str and Int). So my highest stat is only 26, whereas if I'd gone a pure melee I'd likely have Str in the mid- to high-thirties. I would still probably make the same decisions again, though, as I think what you gain from versatility just about outstrips what you lose from specialising.

That worked.

Thank you Sir

No worries glad it worked for you.

A little update to my game, it's amazing how much From get you to care about characters with just 2 or 3 lines of dialogue - there may not be much of a story with NPCs but there definitely are some, and the same with Dark Souls, often less is more.

In a great game the most fun part for me still might be crouch and weapon uppercut special move. It's just damn fun to uppercut enemies into the air imagining Sagat saying Tiger Uppercut.

The crouch move often dodges attacks as well, so you can time the following uppercut to make for some really slick moves. The timing and the animations of them flying in the air and landing like a crumpled sack of crap is superb.

You get different effects for different enemies too, certain enemies look hilarious getting uppercuts like snails, my favourite are the small wine pots, they go up intact but land with a super satisfying shattering crash with the all wine splashing everywhere. Also 2 at once of any mob getting uppercuts simultaneously - amazing. Any 1 shot kill uppercut looks devastating.

You can buy the crouch and uppercut move and apply it to other weapons too, I've got a colossal Troll sword with a great move set, but boring a special I think I'm going to switch it to.

Ooh, is this the stamp: uppercut move you're referring to, or another one?

Still trying to decide on my favourite weapon arts. I like the frantic swings of the anchor with the roar heavy attacks, the wild strikes art and the claymore flip, but there are loads I have yet to try out properly.

Yeah I'm referring to the stamp uppercut move, it's more involved as than some specials as you can delay the crouch time to get the right timing for the uppercuts. Many others specials are just a buff or a canned animation of strikes.

That Claymore forward flip is very cool looking, but I'd still give the uppercut the edge in terms of utility for the timing and delay element to it.

Weapons with uppercut move as standard I've found so far are the Lordsword Greatsord and the Zweihander, but Lordsworn better IMO as so much faster, been my weapon mostly the whole game.

Cool. Thanks. I am going to have a play around with that art a bit more tonight. I do have a partially upgraded LSGS, but I can't remember if I have found an ash of war for the uppercut yet. It might work well on the claymore since I imagine it would be a heavy infusion anway.

Kind of regretting going magic......its great for clearing trash but trash for fighting bosses.

I've found it to be very effective against most bosses so far. I've gone for a Dex/Int build and for Godrick, I changed my flask allocations to take only one healing flask and the rest mana. Since getting the Moonveil Katana, I am using melee more though and saving my FP for the special attacks on it.

I've been randomly exploring one of the river basins and I came across a boss called something like Dragon Knight. Really good boss.... Beat him(or rather Kaiden Mercenary did) and picked up a cool looking spell. Checked it. Req faith 42!

Im still basically just using the starting spell glintstone pebble. No need for anything else tbh.

Finally! Been randomly hitting walls like a madman for 20 hours and found an illusory wall

hahaha i found my first one last night followed by a few in a row :D

level 54 atm and exploring a lot, using a claymore+7 22 vigor, 21 endurance, 30 strength and 20 dex. with a set of carion armour.

i seem to be doing ok against most things but they dang hand spidery things give me the creeps they are by far the most disturbing thing i have encountered, im in ravine- veiled village atm, not sure where im going but im loving the journey lol

As much as I'm enjoying the game and the exploration I truly suck at the combat, don't know if it's because I'm under levelled but as soon as I come up against an enemy with a decent hit and some health I get mashed. So far I've put my runes into vigor and a few into endurance to increase my carry capacity, at present my stats show heavy load. Upgraded my sword twice, but still don't feel like it's got any real damage to it. Perhaps the next upgrade will help....
