*** Elden Ring ***

You don't have to lvl up to beat any boss, it's about learning the moves of the boss. People will do playthroughs soon if not already finishing the game without leveling up once.

I don't even know where to begin answering this nonsense. You try taking on a boss with a "wretched" armed with a club.

Ironically if they are doing it with a pre-built character, then they have already by definition "levelled up".

People have done it with every souls game to date.

Why are you getting angry at something which is very easily backed up with evidence? Go on Youtube and search for "elden ring no hit" - you'll get loads of results. People have even done no-hit runs of Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3 back to back in one sitting.

Tree Sentinel, Level 1 with a club using Wretch Class.

Grafted Scion Level 1 with a club using Wretch Class.

Edit: Let's not forget Margit, same as above.

A lot of people have done 0 hit runs as well in the older Souls titles.

Example quest
A bad man stole my necklace, can you get it back for me
Yeah sure
You will find him down the road at an abandoned house.
I look around and I'm in a shallow marsh/lake and think, "what road"?

No map marker, no general direction and no roads to go down. I'm not asking for HUD markers showing exactly where to go, but is it really too much for this person to say "I've marked a general area on your map?

I found the house very quickly, probably within a few minutes, wasnt that hard to find really as it was pretty much the only house in the vicinity still above water. I should point out though that she doesnt make any mention of a road, she actually says "down the way" not down the road.

I actually REALLY like that there are no markers, nothing marked on the map for me. Reminds me MUCH more of the early (and FAR FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR better) MMOs where you had to find stuff yourself rather than being pointed like a lost small child in the direction to go. Truth be told it rather saddens me that gamers today simply cannot cope without being shown/told where to go for things/how to do stuff. Its like gamers today have lost all ability to use deductive reasoning or independent thought.

Its actually super jarring when they do put a marker on the map tbh (only happens a few times)

Markers for side quests have never been a thing in From games, even as far back as Demon Souls half the secret events you had to wiki as there is no way you would find it unless you had countless playthroughs.

Thats fine by me, I like the fact that they lock content behind these quests that most people would never be bothered with.

This happened to me at one point, does it work through mouse and keyboard controls? Should be left click for light attack.

Mine just kind of resolved itself after trying to switch between the two.

Just got back from work. It seems to have resolved itself. Bizarre. I tried everything earlier!

Edit - no spoke too soon. Can attack with right hand but not left:rolleyes::mad:

I've put a lot of hours into this and got as far as the academy part. It's just ultimately a chore and boring and so unrewarding that I have given up. This style of game with no real story or sense of progression fits the linear style of older DS games, but it's just doesn't work as open world IMHO. You get good enough in an area to more than hold your own and eventually outlast the boss, move to the next and it is rinse and repeat.

Farm for souls/runes
Git gud
Fight boss and not get a hit in
die
Farm for souls/runes
Git gudder
Fight boss and get them to 50%
die
Farm for souls/runes
Git gudder
Fight boss and almost win
die
Farm for souls/runes
Git gudder
Fight boss
win without knowing why it worked this time beacsue you did nothing different than the first few times.
Move to next area and do it all again.

IMHO it's not open world, it's a large boring expanse that you roam around hunting for content.

Some tips for those perservering

When mounted on a horse, left trigger/button on a joypad will hit to the left side
Holding down on the item selection button will bring it straight to the first item you have equipped. So have your estus/health flask there to quickly replenish health in a fight. Same for your favourite magic spell.

I've played through the game twice now, both times reaching level 150+ at no point did I ever feel like I needed to farm runes. You go for a boss, if you can't kill it, do something else until you can. There's so much to do in the game, time just flies by.

i started as wretch and took out a few bosses with my club with no armour, it was ages before i even found a shield let alone a sword lol

saying that i have played all the games from demons souls up to this one apart from sekiro, on some bosses in previous soulsbourne games i would remove all or most of my armour and it actually made some fights easier, so agile lol

Started playing a 2nd faith build char and following this layout feels very progressive. First char was pure melee and I went north early which threw off a lot of the game balance. You can end up with +6 weapons before doing anything south.

Saying that I killed the elder dragon last night and ruined the game balance anyway :D with great power come great responsibility

I'm still using the Morningstar at Liurnia Lakes near that huge castle. I really should up my END to use better armour. I'm still using that red/green armour the guy drops in early Limgrave near the church lol.

Here's the stats that could probably use some sorting. https://imgur.com/a/XJl0zlR

Edit: Margit down, thank goodness. I was on the edge of my seat fighting that...

I have to say, if I was to single out one thing, above all others, as criticism of the game. It would be the locking target mechanic. I mean is it really so damned difficult to actually lock on to the target that is in the middle of my screen that I am pointing out. Lost count of the number of times I've tried to lock on to something that is straight ahead of me and instead its spun the camera and locked on to something at a 60 degree angle etc

That I can certainly agree with, the number of times a target has locked on in the distance, while the one running at me with a colossal greataxe about to wack me over the head is completely ignored. I've lost count how often that happens. I rarely use target lock at all now, it's too unreliable.

Every, damn, time. No not that one! that one! For f sake! RUN AWAY!

TWO Crucible knights in one room!? this game can **** right off!

The definition of a game and it's very reason for existing, is to impart enjoyment. If you find a game infuriatig to play, then stop playing. I do laugh at the Dark Souls elitist attitude of, "finally a game that doesn't hold your hand and is actually difficult". They confuse difficult with unforgiving and look down on people who "don't get it". "Wow you are so cool and a real inspiration", said no one ever to a nerd for beating a video game.

No offence mate but all ive seen you do is complain, if you dont like the game thats fair enough. Just move on, no need to sit on a thread trashing it and the people who do enjoy it. Nobody is looking down on anyone here but you based on your comments that i have read.
